Rakeback

Rakeback offers you the opportunity to get back some of the rake you have paid. For example, you can take advantage of the various rakeback offers at PokerStrategy.com and get at least 27% of your rake back. Have a look at our bonus and rakeback offers.

How does rakeback work?

Rakeback deals mainly reward those players who play poker a lot. Every player has to pay rake. This is the house take, which a given poker room keeps from every pot. The more you play, the more rake you pay.

Some poker rooms, such as Full Tilt Poker, 24hPoker or Cake Poker return part of the rake in the form of rakeback. This means you will regularly receive a rakeback payment, which approximately amounts to a third of the rake amount you have last generated. To find out if a poker room offers rakeback and how high the rakeback there is, have a look at our bonus and rakeback offers in the poker room section.

Indirect rakeback

However, rakeback does not automatically mean that you will earn more money. A VIP programme with regular poker bonuses can also be considered as indirect rakeback. A poker room may not offer a rakeback deal, but instead a VIP programme that regularly provides you with easy-to-clear poker bonuses.

Especially ambitious and very active players should see and compare the overall package of rakeback and VIP programmes offered. Just because a poker room doesn't offer any direct rakeback, it is still possible that you will make money there than at a poker room that does offer such direct rakeback.

You also have to consider that other poker bonuses and winnings from promotions are deducted from the rakeback.

How is rakeback calculated?

Your rakeback is calculated based on the amount of rake generated by the player. However, there are different calculation methods for this.

Dealt rakeback method

Dealt rakeback means that the rakeback is calculated based on the dealt rake. This method is quite easy to explain. If $1 is generated in a given hand and 10 players were at least dealt into the hand, the rake is equally divided among the 10 players. It doesn't matter whether they folded preflop or how much they contributed to the pot. The only thing that matters is that they were dealt cards.

Contributed rakeback method

However, the method we have just described puts active players, who are often involved in pots and contribute a lot of money to them, at a disadvantage. They will still receive the same amount of rake and the same amount of rakeback as a player, who is involved in the same hands, but often folds preflop.

Contributed rakeback calculates your rakeback based on the contributed rake. The difference to dealt rake is that this method takes into account how much a player has actually contributed to the pot. Based on this, the amount of rake and therefore his rakeback is calculated.

Progressive rakeback method

Progressive rakeback means that the poker room doesn't pay you rakeback as a fixed percentage of the rake you have generated. Instead, the amount of rakeback depends on the number of hands you have played.
