Erptech: Poker, Business and DJing

earpwyatt314 was the player who boosted Team Judgernaut's performance in last week's BOTD and Cardbender managed to get hold of him for an interview.

Last week was Team Judgernaut's time to shine. Thanks to
Erptech, they managed to get all 3 gold medals in play and as usual, Cardbender got a hold of the man responsible for this. Here is the interview.
This interview was conducted by
Cardbender420
Cardbender420: Hello earpwyatt314, congratulations on your 207th place tournament finish and 1st place BOTD finish this week.
Erptech: Hello and thank you.
The Battle of the Donkeys is a weekly community event in which several teams consisting of admins, moderators, hand judges and community members fight for the best tournament finishes. You can read more about the new BOTD round here.
Cardbender420: Can you tell the readers a little about your self?
Erptech: My name is Mislav, I am 25 years old and I'm from Croatia. I run my own small business and do some DJ-ing.
Cardbender420: You’re a DJ, that's great! Maybe Poker Strategy can hire you for the next Black Member Party :)
Erptech: Sure, I’ll give Pokerstrategy 50% off.
Cardbender420: Wow what a deal! Do you have any plans for your BOTD winnings of 12.30$? Maybe some vinyl records or something.
Erptech: Absolutely, although I’m using CD players, I could always use them for scratching.
Cardbender420: How did you feel about your play during the tournament? Did you have any lucky moments or was it all skill?
Erptech: Well, I’d have to say I was lucky to get good hands, which I was able to play reasonably well considering I’m not a frequent tournament player. So, luck and skill combined led to my success.
Cardbender420: What game do you prefer?
Erptech: I currently play SSS NL20 and 50 at Mansion, but soon I plan to move to Pokerkings or Interpoker in search of rake back. I tried some BSS recently, and I can say it was a much needed experience for me, because my SSS has improved significantly since then. So, I’m back to SSS now. I just can't play less than 10 tables :)
Cardbender420: Ten tables, wow! I think I would go nuts. What is the biggest number of tables you have tried at one time?
Erptech: Well the SSS on nl20 is not really demanding and on that limit I sometimes play the maximum number of tables, and on Mansion it's 15 I think. However, I don't answer telephone calls while I play like that.
Cardbender420: I guess not! How did the BSS strategies manage to improve your SSS game?
Erptech: I learned how a big stacker thinks, and I can now adjust better to their play. Although that doesn't affect the math of SSS, my profits somehow went up since then.
Cardbender420: When did your poker career start?
Erptech: Poker career, lol. Well maybe it will become a career, I hope it will! I think I would like the lifestyle. I first started playing in March of this year, when a friend told me that there’s a site that gives away $50.
After I gambled the initial 50$ away, I played freerolls on various sites only by following my feeling and one of the first tourneys I played I ended up finishing 8th out of 3000 players. My aces were busted by AK on the river. I’d say that was the moment I made my decision to learn more about poker the proper way and I returned to Pokerstrategy to thoroughly read the articles.
Cardbender420: Was there something in particular you were doing wrong that PS helped with or was it many things you found you needed to improve on?
Erptech: For starters, I stopped gambling. That was the most important thing in my opinion and Pokerstrategy showed me how I should approach poker in general. The articles cover all areas and I guess there wasn't a single aspect I didn't need improvement in. I must say that the whole professional poker school approach is just great and I try to use all content that is offered as much as I can.
Cardbender420: You have adopted a great approach to the game. Do you have any short or long term goals at the moment?
Erptech: Short term: re-re-re-re-rebuild my bankroll after "variance" :D I almost destroyed it completely. Also I would like to start playing advanced SSS and establish myself on NL50 and NL100. Long term: continue to learn and improve in all poker variants; we'll see where that gets me.
Cardbender420: Sounds like your on the right track. Good luck with your goals.
Erptech: Thanks, Cardbender.
Cardbender420: I'll be cheering you on at the WSOP main event some day. ;)
Erptech: Yeah, hopefully from the other side of the final table. ;)
Cardbender420: You bet! :) You're from Croatia. I know football is big there, so do you want to give a shout out for your favourite team?
Erptech: The best team from Croatia is Dinamo. *\o/* Go Dinamo!!! *\o/*. My favorite foreign team is FC Barcelona *\o/*.
Cardbender420: Is there one thing in particular that Croatia as a country has to offer?
Erptech: It has many things, but I’d have to stress Croatia’s beautiful women and, of course, the beautiful sea.
Cardbender420: I'll have to visit some day! ;)
Erptech: Just let me know, we’ll arrange a beach party. ;)
Cardbender420: Will do! Now for everyone’s favourite "Pick The Prize"!!!
You won 12.30$ in this week's BOTD. If you had to spend you winnings, which one of the following items would you purchase?
|
|
|
|
| A date with Croatia’s oldest woman! |
Kermit the frog apparel for your cat |
Mr T stain glass window starter kit, “I pitty the fool” |
Erptech: Well, let me see, now I must admit this is a very tough choice. Although dating older women has its advantages, I'll have to pass this time because, erm ... well... I'm sick actually, and it's contagious for the elderly you know.
Choosing Mr. T stain glass window starter kit would be a very bad decision because if I put it in my room then everyone will come all the time to admire it, and of course they will distract me from my poker play.
So that leaves me with Kermit the frog apparel for cats, (amazingly I have a cat identical to the one in the picture), which has instantly got my attention because I think sometimes only my cat understands me when I suffer a bad beat, and she's always there for me. So I pick the Kermit apparel, it would be a great Christmas present for my cat.
Cardbender420: Very nice choice. Before I end the interview, is there any thing you would like to mention?
Erptech: I just wanted to thank you and justkyle88 for IRC support ;)
Cardbender420: No problem! It’s fun watching etc… Some day, one of us will take the 2k+ prize :)
Erptech: :)
Cardbender420: Thank you very much for taking the time for this interview. Best wishes for the future and I'll see you next week in the BOTD :)
Erptech: Thank you, I’ll be playing, and remember - Team Judgernaut ftw! :P
Cardbender420: The Maniacs will give you a run for your money next week, just watch! :p
Erptech: Good luck with that! :)
