Changes in the calculation of your status
A new method of calculating your status at PokerStrategy.com will ensure an increased level of regularity and allows for a higher error tolerance.
The status of a member is one of the fundamental elements at PokerStrategy.com. Your status determines which level of articles and services you are entitled to and which limits you have access to.
The system has remained unchanged for years: taking into consideration the StrategyPoints you have earned within the past 28 days.
Over a year ago, we changed one aspect of it. Daily upgrades have been possible since then, whereas downgrades have only been possible once a month. By doing this, we wanted to make sure that no one would miss out on the benefits of a higher status after only a few days.
In general, our new calculation method doesn’t affect the challenge of reaching or maintaining a certain status. It will, however, ensure an increased level of regularity and a higher error tolerance whenever a poker room fails to update us on your points in time, which has happened repeatedly.
The new calculation method
- First of all, we’ll look at the number of StrategyPoints you have earned within the past 42 days
- Within these 42 days, we will identify a continuous period of 28 days in which you earned the most StrategyPoints
- The total number of StrategyPoints earned within your best 28 days determines your status
The old system in comparison:
- On a daily basis, the past 28 days were evaluated and, depending on your points, your status was upgraded
- On a monthly basis, the past 28 days were evaluated and, depending on your points, your status was downgraded
What does this mean effectively?
RegularityWhen you reach a higher status, you will keep it for at least 2 weeks. If you were unlucky with the old system, you got to keep your status for only one day, whereas if you were lucky, you got to keep it for almost a whole month even if you didn’t meet the status requirements in the preceding 28 days.
Tolerance against missing updates of your points
Your StrategyPoints are updated daily. Sometimes this can take longer because it always depends on how quickly we receive the updates from your poker room/s. This has caused problems regarding status upgrades because only the preceding 28 days were taken into account. That’s why some of our members could not be upgraded.
To give you an example:
On January 1st, you earn 90 StrategyPoints. On January 25th, you earn another 20 – you would now have enough points to reach Silver status. Unfortunately, your poker room did not update us on your points until 5 days later: January 31st. On January 31st, you will have therefore only accumulated 20 points during the preceding 28 days, which is not enough for the Silver status. The new calculation method goes back further in time and also considers the period between January 1st and January 28th. This means your status will be upgraded to Silver and you will keep this status at least until February 11th.

The paragraph under regularity isn't really true. If, for instance, you have 2 active weeks, than 2 inactive, than another 2 active weeks, you will still lose your status after a single day.I however still prefer this new way of assessing the status.
Will the best 28 days only be updated daily or instantly as soon as updates come in? Because right now, it doesn't really have the best 28 for me ;).

it would be better to take the best 28 days of the 42 and not the best continuous 28 :)#8

+1 to #7.The new system is much fairer, but it still penalises you for having holidays

LOL i totally misread. If it's continuous period, the system is just retarded. Seriously.
It should be the best 28 days PERIOD.
