Not only Europe is discussing about the topic of online casinos. Also in other parts of the world the governments are literally forced to regulate the markets to avoid the spreading of illegal gaming sites.

South African flagSouth Africa made the first step into the appropriate direction and passed an amendment which would allow private providers to acquire a license in the African state. First of all though, the National Council as well as President Thabo Mbeki have to give their consent to the legislation.

In South Africa, it was so far illegal to offer the service of an online casino, but despite the ban the market is ever-expanding. Therefore, the government prefers to regulate the markets instead of pushing the whole industry into an illegal position. Should the law become effective, online gambling via computer as well as via cell phone would be legal. Advertisement would still be actively restrained though.
