AGCC Commission Independent Review Of Full Tilt Poker Suspension
The former FTP regulator has decided to commission an independent investigation into how they dealt with the sites suspension and revocation.
The Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) has commissioned former UK Gambling Commission chairman Peter Dean, CBE, to lead an independent investigation of their handling of the Full Tilt Poker license revocation.
The AGCC came under fire recently for their practice of 'regulating by report', essentially relying on the honesty of FTP's account reporting.
They were also criticised for the long delays between suspending FTP's license and their eventual revocation, and not insisting that player funds are segregated by their licensees.
“I am delighted that Peter Dean has agreed to conduct the review,” said Andre Wilsenach, Executive Director of the AGCC. “He has many years of experience at the top of the British Gambling Commission and commands wide respect from operators and regulators alike.”
Mr Dean's investigation will look into the “appropriateness, timeliness and fairness of the actions undertaken”.
Wilsenach made an official statement today on the AGCC's decision to commission the review:
“We believe we acted appropriately and fairly at all times but, following our own internal assessment and the inevitable questions that have been raised by third parties, the Commission decided that it is in the best interests of players, license holders and AGCC itself to commission an independent review and to make the outcome public.”
The final report will be presented by March 2012, which will include recommendations to the commission.

I think anyone who had money on FTP, or anyone who currently has money on an AGCC regulated poker room, should be very interested in this.#4

Why is it interesting for us who have money on FTP?!?It's a "nice" move by AGCC and it probably will increase public confidence in them as a regulator, but this investigation is only about how they (=AGCC) did their job. No matter the outcome of that investigation, players not more or less likely to see their moniiiez sooner or later.

They should be put on a black list, never trust them or the site licensed by them, cause they're only regulators by name, their "they send us some papers which show company is running well and we trust that's true and dont ever check it out" way of regulation is load of BS, i could regulate like that and get millions of dollars in fees each yeah while doing absolutely nothing.#6

An independant investigation can lead to negative findings, which could shatter the AGCC's reputation. They must be pretty confident they did nothing wrong.#7

@4 That would be true if FTP would be the only site that has their license, but others do as well(PKR for example). So it's important for players to know if they are trustworthy or not.@news Well, how indepandent are you really if you get hired by the pearson that you are supposed to investigate? Not very imo:) In my eyes it's more of a publicity stunt to prevent sites from getting their licenses elsewhere becouse of player distrust.

This is retarded, AGCC regulated by report and acted late and now they are like, "okay, come investigate us, we did nothing wrong" but how can they say that when they in fact believed that the reports made by FTP was a hundred percent true. It's like being a guard in a prison and asking a prisoner if he has a knife or not and if he says no, then we'd be on our way happily when in fact we are responsible if he has a knife or not and we should check it personally. And when the prisoner stabs someone we'd just say, "hey don't blame me I asked him if he has a knife and he said no..."

@6 allowing an investigation doesn't imply they didn't do anything wrong. They could simply be confident that the investigation will miss/avoid/neglect to uncover their mistakes.
In both cases an investigation is not a concern.

This could just be a publicity stunt to restore confidence. An inquiry that finds nothing wrong is always good publicity even if the investigation is a bad one.
We can only justify confidence when we know they did a proper investigation... and good luck on that front.

The way they were regulating sites was a joke. They were being paid lots of money for doing nothing. And this "independent" review is also a joke. They are paying someone to say if they did their job right or not. No need to wait till March. I can tell you what the report will say, right now.#16

@#1, #4, #7: It is attitudes like "I don't care about regulation or accountability issues; I just wanna know when I get my moniiiez back" that are part of the problem. Until people start behaving in a way that forces businesses (regulators and platforms alike) to look after player funds properly, i.e by holding them to account and demanding to get to know what went wrong, these businesses will continue to act in an irresponsible and cavalier manner. The main issue isn't: 'will we lose our 'rolls at Full Tilt?', it's: 'HOW DO WE MAKE SURE THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN'.
I'm not saying this 'independent' investigation will tell us that, but we jolly well better care about stuff like this if we don't want to just get continually f**ked over by any two-bit operator that thinks it can get away with stuff because everyone is so apathetic.
