The US American and PokerStars qualifier Edward Sabat won the PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Macau and thus a prize money of $453,851.

APPT breaks every Record once more

Poker room PokerStars Macau in the Grand Waldo Casino and HotelNot even 12 months ago, the APPT heralded the start of a new era in the Asian gambling metropolis. The first international poker tournament in the Middle Kingdom attracted attention world-wide. With 538 participants and a prize pool of $1,620,897, the second edition of the event broke every record once more. The APPT Macau 2008 was thus the biggest poker tournament on Asian ground for now. Counted as a big success as well: about 15% of the starters were from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan or Macau.

The APPT Macau brings poker to Asia In the finale, an American prevailed though. Edward Sabat defeated his international opponents and takes the APPT title back home to the United States. Started as big stack, Sabat had an excellent starting situation, but he had to endure several ups and down before he was able to pick up the win bonus.

Heads-up

In the heads-up he won against Charles Chua from Malaysia. Chua started into the finale of the last two as chip leader, but already had to concede the lead in the first hand. Like before though, the chip lead switched several times before Sabat was determined as the winner.

The turn gave Sabat a few more outs to the straight, but still kept Chua in the lead. The on the river gave Sabat the longed for flush and thus $453,851.
