APPT: HoRRoR Chip Leader
125 players started into Day 1A of the PokerStars Asian Pacific Poker Tour (ATTP) in Macau. Coach André 'HoRRoR' Wagner finished the day as chip leader.
Over 430 registrations for the $3,200 No-Limit Hold'em Event of the APPT in the Grand Waldo Hotel & Casino in Macau have already been counted, which will be spread out onto three first starting days. On Day 1A, Barry Greenstein, John Juanda, Eric Assadourian and many more pros were present as well amongst others.
However, Greenstein already dropped out early on. With pocket threes he check-raised his opponent all-in when a further three appeared on the flop. His opponent called with pocket fives. The river brought another five, and Greenstein had to clear his seat.
HoRRoR takes over the Lead
Actually, coach André '
HoRRoR' Wagner had only planned to "accompany the others to Day 1A", but then he had to join as well. Despite an exhausting session in the Venetian during the previous night and only four hours of sleep, he still joined the table with only a bit of delay.
There, he met amongst others Mike 'timex' McDonald, winner of the EPT Dortmund and an old acquaintance in tournament poker for HoRRoR. According to our coach, the table was as follows:
The table was very, very pleasant, not only due to the three ladies. Liz Lieu to my right, an unknown lady to my left, and facing me was Wooka Kim. After two hours, I had doubled up my starting stack and still hadn't seen a river.
At the end of the day, HoRRoR had not only doubled up his stack, he was even the chip leader with over 100,000 chips. Besides HoRRoR, 45 further players survived the day, amongst them also Mike McDonald, John Juanda and Wooka Kim.
Out for trader, BAndelfAnIE and Tondig
Unfortunately, for Moritz '
trader' Schmejkal, Francesco '
BAndelfAnIE' Gitz and Holger '
Tonding' Kanisch, the tournament was over rather early. HoRRoR of all people was responsible for sending Tonding to the rails. HoRRoR's comment about this in the Pro blog:
The first real key hand was when I came to a new table with about 40k (~22k average) and found KK in the small blind in my second hand. The button open-raised, and I re-raised of course. The problem was that I knew the button all too well. It was Holger (Tonding), with whom I also share the hotel room. He already knows from the SnG's that I am very loose, and thus he had to really consider if I also play this aggressively against him in a tournament.
How the hand continued and further information about HoRRoR's APPT tour can be found in the (German) Pro-Blog: Chipleader_Woohoo
