Ali Tekintamgac Wins WPT Barcelona

The World Poker Tour Spanish Championship in Barcelona came to an end on Sunday, the 23rd of May. German player Ali Tekintamgac defeated Roberto Santiago from Spain and won the €315,000 first place prize.

The World Poker Tour Spanish Championship took place at the Casino Barcelona last week, between the 19th and 23rd of May. A total of 326 players joined the €3,200 + €300 tournament, which generated a prize pool of more than €1 million.

Tekintamgac's second major live event

The top 36 players would get a piece of the prize money, and Ali Tekintamgac from Germany managed to come up victorious, after taking down Roberto Santiago. Tekintamgac entered the heads-up phase with a 5:1 chip lead (4,100,000 vs. 800,000) and it didn't take long before he won the whole event.

In the final hand of the tourney, Santiago went all in preflop with 9d8h and Tekintamgac made the call, holding 5cQc. The board came KhAh5hQd2d and the German player was awarded €315,000, as well as a seat for the WPT finals in Las Vegas and a Tiffany bracelet.

In an interview with PartyPoker, Tekintamgac revealed that this is only his second major live tournament, the first one being EPT Monte Carlo where he finished 125th for €15,000. He also added that he will be in Vegas and will take part in the World Series of Poker Main Event.
