PokerStars VIP Club Blasts Off
PokerStars are starting their new year with a bang by launching a new VIP promotion that’s designed to get your bankroll soaring. From January 1st the world’s largest online poker site will be offering a range of VIP offers that include: discount TCOOP (Turbo Championship of Online Poker) tickets and satellites, ring game happy hours where you can earn 50% more points, pace bonuses for PlatinumStar and Supernova VIPs and exclusive VIP tournaments with guarantees ranging from $30,000 to $1 million.
While 2011 might not have been the year online poker flourished, it seems the big wigs at PokerStars are determined to move on and make the New Year their best ever.
A Cure for Pokeritis
In recent times the online poker world has produced some classic degenerates: Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies, Ed “Bluescouse” Hollis and the king of them all, Viktor “Isildur1” Blom. However, it seems that in 1912 the issue of poker players spewing too much money at the tables was just as prevalent. So much so that a silent film was made on the subject. The 12 minute movie, entitled A Cure for Pokeritis, focuses on a degen and his disapproving wife and has recently been nominated by the National Film Registry.
The nomination will ensure that the film will be preserved as a culturally and historically significant documentation of poker’s influence in America’s history.
Raptor Continues to Regale 2+2
It’s been one of the most popular 2+2 Wells of all time and after his recent appraisal of “Durrrr”’s fishy tendencies, David “Raptor” Benefield has continued to share his thoughts on the game and some of its most prominent characters. In a recent post he was asked to give his opinions on “Ziigmund” and while his response was far from ascorbic, he did suggest the Finn was a hit-and-run merchant. “I was usually pretty happy to play him, though he would always hit and run which was pretty annoying. He is very tough super deep though.”
Benefield went on to explain one of his biggest leaks isn’t 4-bet jamming too light, but fine dining with the likes of “Durrrr”. “I waste wayyyy too much money on this [fine dining]. I just got back from dinner at Per Se with "Apathy", "Durrrr", and our ladies. Final tab for 6 was 5k. "Apathy" lost.”

High Stakes Corner
Despite a recent downswing, things seemed to have improved for Phil “MrSweets28” Galfond as he enjoyed a very profitable day at the felt yesterday. With $191,874 in winnings the online sensation looks to be on course to start 2012 with a bang.At the opposite end of the profit spectrum was “RaiseOnce” who lost almost $1,000 a hand. After just 204 hands of poker the nosebleed player lost a bankroll busting $203,075 which was by far the largest loss of the day.
