Tapie quashes rumours & judge dismisses most of FTP class action

IGaming France have today published positive news for all concerned with the Full Tilt Poker takeover.

An article submitted by Subject:Poker last week intimated that Chris Ferguson had been an obstacle for Groupe Bernard Tapie and their FTP takeover, however Laurent Tapie as well as Ferguson's lawyer Ian Imrich have denied these allegations vehemently.

Tapie also announced that "unless there are last-minute surprises, we hope to do the deal by the end of February."

News has also leaked today that the lawsuit filed against Full Tilt Poker by poker player Todd Terry has been dismissed. For an in depth overview of the latest FTP news check out our update here.

High stakes corner

The past 24 hours have seen a short burst of $200/$400 NL action going down at PokerStars, with "altiFC" and "patpatman" going head to head.

It was "altiFC" who came out on top, despite losing a $200,000 pot all-in with aces before the flop. Despite the knock back he sits on top of the daily HighStakesDB leaderboard after winning $125,016.

There was also a welcome return to form for Ben "milkybarkid" Grundy who banked a $63,511 win after a prolonged absence at PokerStars.

Daniel Negreanu hacked

Yesterday's high stakes news alluded to some fairly wild and erratic play from Daniel Negreanu over at PokerStars on Monday night.

Negreanu sat at several $100/$200 NL tables and was involved in a number of suspicious pots which got the railbirds talking. It appears that "KidPoker" has actually been the victim of a hacking attempt, having shared the details with 2+2.

He remarks, "I was on an airplane home while this guy was joyriding my Stars account. He hacked my email and I got that back, still figuring out what happened. When I have all the details I'll share when it makes sense to."

At least the Canadian pro is seeing the funny side of the incident: "Some of you NVGtards really thought that was me??? Man HSP has really done wonders for my image :-)", Negreanu quipped.

888 Strengthens ties with Caesars

888 announced yesterday that they have consolidated their partnership with Caesars Entertainment, improving on their existing deal to license 888’s software in the US ahead of impending regulation.

Brian Mattingley, Deputy Chairman of 888 announced, "we are delighted to be extending our relationship with [Caesars] into the much-anticipated US market". “We are proud to be providing them with the technology and tools to leverage and monetize their powerful brand.”

Mattingley looked positively towards "either a Federal or State-by-State regulatory environment", noting that "888 is uniquely positioned to support either outcome, without delay."
