Daily Rewind: Hellmuth's Bet, Gus's Sweat, Full Tilt Debt
Today we hear about Phil Hellmuth's unfortunate Superbowl betting and relive a rather large pot through Gus Hansen. Laurent Tapie has indicated quite how much FTP are owed by certain poker players, and Daniel Negreanu is blogging about his terrible start to 2012.
The Daily Rewind is your one-stop-shop for a sharp review of the day in poker. Join us here for a mix of the latest news and a more irreverent insight into the poker world. Today we discovered the following topics for you:
You can't even spell 'sports bet'
It was a fairly busy weekend in the sporting world, which reached its cresecendo with the New York Giants Superbowl victory over the New England Patriots last night.Poker players are notorious for enjoying a punt on their chosen sport, and last night was no exception.
Phil Hellmuth is one man who likes to predict sporting outcomes, but you'd be wise to avoid his prophecies at all costs, seeing as he managed to lose every Superbowl bet yesterday.
According to his Twitter, the Poker Brat "lost EVERY Super Bowl bet: 8 out of 8. Apparently, I like records: set my personal record for biggest loss on one game: $21k plus juice."

Tapie confirms debt to FTP
Last week we heard news surrounding debt owed to Full Tilt Poker by some high profile professional poker players.Last weekend, iGamingFrance reported that Laurent Tapie has confirmed the player debt totals $16.5 million and that Groupe Bernard Tapie would be unwilling "to take on the extra costs generated by these players' debts."
On a positive note, Tapie also reveals that some of the players have already responded to "calls for dialogue" and "have already signed contracts to repay the debts."
Gus loses monster pot in Macau
The charismatic Dane Gus Hansen was having a remarkable start to 2012, but it seems his year took an almighty whack this weekend playing in nosebleed cash games in Macau.Gus reports in his blog that he was on the losing end of an enormous HKD $14.7 million pot (roughly USD $1.85m) after building a huge pot preflop and flopping top pair and a flush draw.
Gus being Gus, his chips went sailing into the pot but the news was as bad as it could possibly be: He was up against "a set and the Nut-flush draw!". "Not a great spot to be in", he added.

High stakes corner
The past 24 hours has seen the return of everyone's favourite high stakes maniac, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom. The Swede currently sits close to $90,000 in profit for the past day, however he is embroiled in a series of heads-up games as we write this, so tomorrow will give us a clearer picture of Blom's gains.
Meanwhile Ben "Ben86" Tollerene and Sam "tr1cky7" Trickett both suffered days to forget, dropping $130,000 and $110,000 respectively, according to HighStakesDB.
Daniel Negreanu: It's been a tough year so far
The ever candid Daniel "KidPoker" Negreanu poured his heart out this weekend in his latest blog entry.Negreanu admits it's been a fairly turbulent start to 2012, having had some rough luck at the Aussie Millions followed by an unfortunate hacking incident in which his PokerStars account was compromised.
He was then misquoted in a magazine article and has suffered some serious problems on a personal level which have left him feeling "shocked and disgusted."
Rumours surrounding the Canadian's relationship with poker player Maria Ho have been doing the rounds, but Negreanu claims he is "staying single for now", stating he decided to "take six months off any serious relationships" after the end of his relationship with model Krisztina Polgar.
