TCOOP concludes

The inaugural TCOOP series wrapped up last night with the Main Event seeing a sizeable turnout generate a prizepool close to $2,500,000.

The rapid structure didn't deter 3667 participants from stumping up the $700 entry fee and creating a whopping $382,855.67 first place.

Remarkably for a tournament with such enormous pay jumps, there were no deals executed. This played into the hands of the eventual winner, David "Betudontbet" Emmons, who ran oblivion over his poor short stacked adversaries, wielding his big stack from the start of the final table onto inevitable victory.

Emmons sealed the win after besting well known high stakes pro Chris "ImDaNuts" Oliver heads-up to snare the $382k first prize.

Is Zoom Poker around the corner?

Pokerfuse reported this weekend that PokerStars have confirmed that their "fast moving ring games product", believed to be named "Zoom Poker" is set for a public beta test at the end of February or beginning of March.

Since Full Tilt Poker's demise from the online poker market there has been no alternative to their Rush Poker product. Rush Poker is heralded as one of the game's most innovative creations, so it will be interesting to see how the PokerStars version of speed poker weighs up against it.

Life's not bad for Gus

Gus Hansen seems to be giving his blog some attention lately; perhaps reported $4m winnings in the Macau cash games have inspired Gus's inner Samuel Pepys.

Maybe it's his latest bankroll injection after a third place in the Aussie Millions Super High Roller or maybe it's the fact that he's living the life that most men could only dream about.

Anyway, Gus was back in the blogosphere this weekend with a rundown of his performance in the $250k Super High Roller, and not happy with mastering poker or Racketlon, claims to have "re-invented (his) sports betting career." The bookies will be running scared considering the Great Dane's current form...

High stakes corner

It's been a fine 24 hour period for PokerStrategy.com instructor JensKyllonen who banked a juicy $161,568 at the PLO tables over at PokerStars.

"takechip" and "doncarignano" also both fared well yesterday, netting over $100k each according to HSDB. The prize for yesterday's biggest donator goes to the unfortunate "nasud 11" who will be nursing a $233k loss today with some contempt.

APT is hunky for Dorey

London's Fox Poker Club hosted Europe's first ever APT last week with the final table finishing in the early hours of this morning.

When all was said and done it was British pro William Dorey who picked up the title and winner's cheque for £17,130 after taking down the £500+£30 buy-in affair.

Dorey defeated a final table including British pros Surinder Sunar and Steve Watts to end a successful January after a deep run at WPT Ireland.

Daily Signoff

Today's Signoff doesn't celebrate a particular hand or key moment in poker history. In fact, as far as Daily Signoffs go, it's fairly random.

Having said that, it's not often you get to see Patrik Antonius scoffing Big Macs as if his life depended on it. Enjoy.
