TCOOP latest

The PokerStars TCOOP series continues at pace and we're now over halfway through the schedule. Yesterday saw four more turbo tournaments play out with $109 PL Omaha Hi/Lo, $215 NL Hold'em, $22 Stud and $22 Rebuy NL Hold'em events all crowning champions.

The big winners of the day being "wcsquad3" and "Mcolombo" who both snared over $80,000 for their victories in the $215 and $22r Hold'em tourneys. Four more high octane turbos run today as we inch ever closer to the $700 Main Event on the 29th January.

I want to ride your unicycle

Tony G's trademark bicycle lost a wheel and was the subject of a prop bet this week at the Aussie Millions.

Tournament pro and newest member of Lock ProElite Melanie Weisner took on a challenge from the G-Man, offering her $10,000 if she could negotiate her way round Crown Towers on his unicycle.

See how she fared below...

High stakes corner

Yesterday we reported on some vicious swings over at the PokerStars PLO tables. Unsurprisingly Viktor "Isildur1" was the man at the heart of the action, riding the crest of a $750,000 upswing.

In true Blom fashion, the past 24 hours have seen him donate $500,000 of his winnings back to the high stakes regs, notably "patpatman" who is up close to $750,000 over the past 48 hours.

It seems HSDB has been having trouble tracking the insane prolonged action and we hope that it continues. Will Blom rise again? Find out more tomorrow.

Aussie Millions Main Event

Day 2 of the Aussie Millions Main Event is in the books, with just 74 of the 659 starters remaining. All eyes are set upon Phil Ivey, who sits in second place heading into Day 3. Among the players who hit the rail on Day 2 were the likes of Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Tony G.

The current chip leader is Aussie player Tim O'Shea with 921,000 chips.  Find out more in our Day 2 recap.

Playtech looks to US

Gaming firm Playtech yesterday announced that they are preparing themselves for new markets. The gaming operator has acquired UK software firm Geneity as well as entering into joint venture partnerships with German gaming firm Gausellmann and South African casino business Peermont.

Playtech's CEO Mor Weizer spoke to Reuters about the possibility of expanding the Playtech brand within a regulated US market. Weizner points out that Playtech "have lots of potential customers (in the U.S.) that approached us or that we approached that would like to have us as their suppliers of online gaming products when the market opens up."

Daily Signoff

With news of Ivey running well in the Aussie Millions Main Event, today's signoff looks back at a monster hand between the two giants of poker.
