Denmark has become the latest country in the European Union to regulate their online poker market. This means that Danish players will only be able to play via the domains PartyPoker.dk and PokerStars.dk.

What does this mean for me as a Danish player?

As a Danish online poker player, you will no longer be able to play on the .com domains of PartyPoker or PokerStars. However, unlike post-regulation France and Italy, you will still be part of the .com worldwide liquidity pool and not "ring-fenced".

This means that Danish players can play other players around the world, but only via PartyPoker.dk/Danske Spil and PokerStars.dk, as well as other regulated online poker rooms in Denmark.

Furthermore, you will be restricted from playing on other sites that are not regulated in Denmark.

What are the benefits of this regulation?

As France and Italy can testify, regulation helps to boost the number of recreational players at the online poker tables.

Furthermore, Party.dk have partnered with Danish lottery site Danske Spil, so a new group of recreational players have hit the felt in Denmark.

This means that players on Danske Spil can play at the PartyPoker tables, and vice versa. This influx of recreational players will surely make your time at the tables more profitable!

Can I still earn StrategyPoints on .dk rooms?

Yes. From Monday, January 23 if you play with a tracked PartyPoker or PokerStars account via the .dk domains, you will earn StrategyPoints. Furthermore, any StrategyPoints you earned that were not recognised between January 1 - 23 will be credited to your PokerStrategy.com account. You will earn the same StrategyPoints per rake on the .dk sites as on the respective .com rooms.
