Doyle Brunson Signs With Poker Royalty
Legend of the game Doyle Brunson has signed with poker management agency Poker Royalty. By joining one of the world largest poker management firms Brunson also joins an elite group of players represented by the firm.
In explaining his decision to join Poker Royalty, Doyle ‘Texas Dolly’ Brunson highlighted both the business and the practical side of the relationship. “I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. I’m a terrible businessman and dealmaker, so I’m glad to be able to turn over all that stuff to them.” He went onto add that the proximity of the suite to the Amazon Room Poker Royalty will have at the WSOP would make access to the rest rooms during breaks a welcome relief.
The company works with 30 of the game’s top names and is based in Las Vegas. And what a collection of players Poker Royalty has. The addition of Brunson means Poker Royalty now represents the top three all time World Series of Poker Bracelet winners.
With 10 bracelets Brunson joins fellow 10 time winner Johnny Chan at Poker Royalty. Both are back to back winners of the Main Event, Doyle in 76-77 and Chan 87-88. Johnny Chan nearly claimed his third straight victory in 1988, losing as runner up to one Phil Hellmuth who has since gone on to become the highest bracelet winner with 11 WSOP victories. He is also represented by Poker Royalty.
Poker Royalty also represents Gavin Griffin, who is the only player ever to have won tournaments on the World Poker Tour (WPT), European Poker Tour (EPT), and WSOP. His bracelet win came in 2004 in a $3,000 Pot Limit Hold’em event. Three years later, Griffin won the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final for nearly $2.5 million. The following year he backed it up with the WPT Borgata Winter Open for $1.4 million.
three recent wsop main event runner-ups are also there
Three recent WSOP Main Event runner-ups are also represented by the Las Vegas based company: Ivan Demidov, Paul Wasicka and David Williams. Demidov battled against fellow Team PokerStars Pro member Peter Eastgate in the 2008 Main Event. Wasicka fell to Jamie Gold at the 2006 WSOP Main Event, banking a healthy $6.1 million and David Williams was the runner-up to Greg Raymer in the 2004 Main Event.
Daniel Negreanu, one of the most popular players on the circuit and a player everybody wants to work with is also on the book at Poker Royalty. The fold is completed with the added sparkle of Cindy Margolis. Brunson is indeed joining a very prestigious company and group of players.
