EPT And Further Events

The summer takes its toll on the tournament schedule. Many pros are recovering from the WSOP, and tournament organisers maintain a low profile accordingly. The next month offers some top-class events again though - amongst others the EPT.
WPT - 2008 Borgata Poker Open, Atlantic City
With the Borgata Poker Open the World Poker Tour (WPT) has its kick-off in the second half of the poker year. The company WPT Enterprise might be struggling, but the tournaments are still regarded as highlights of the all-year tournament schedule. The large starting stacks and a superior blind structure compared to the EPT are sure to keep up the popularity. And of course there is still a lot of prestige to be had by winning a WPT title. The $10,000 Main Event will take place on September 14th to 18th. The supporting programme includes 15 tournaments with buy-ins between $300 and $5,000.
EPT Barcelona
In
Barcelona, the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) will start into its fifth season. From September 10th to 14th the €8,000 Main
Event will take place. Two days earlier, the respective satellites (€200) will start in the Casino Barcelona.As usual, two days are scheduled as starting days for the Main Event. Last year's EPT Barcelona was won by the Dane Sander Lyloff ahead of the Briton Mark Teltscher. Best German was Katja Thater on rank 47 - she received €12,500. 56 places were paid out, 543 players participated. The winner received €1,170,700 of the prize pool of €4,181,100.

WSOP Europe, London
The kick-off will be a three-day £1,500 No-Limit
Hold'em tournament on September 19th. On September 22nd, the £2,500 Limit
H.O.R.S.E. event will start, also scheduled for three days. Last year, the Full Tilt Pro Thomas Bihl won the tournament. He thus took the first-ever awarded WSOP bracelet on European ground back to Germany.Some variety will be offered by a £5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament which will start on September 24th. On September 27th, things get serious then: The five-day £10,000 World Championship Event will begin. In 2007, Anette Obrestad won the tourney and advanced as a 19-year old to the youngest WSOP bracelet winner of all times.
