Foxwoods WPT Day 5: Jaffe Back in the Lead

The Foxwoods World Poker Tour in Mashantucket, Connecticut reached its fifth day, with Jonathan Jaffe getting back in the chip leader position. The final 10 players became final 6, so it's time to see who is joining the final table.

WPTThe World Poker Tour at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut kicked off on November 5, gathering a little over 400 people in the first two playdays. On Day 5, four more players needed to be eliminated until the final table would be set.

Jonathan Jaffe is back on top of the rankings, after switching places with Mike Matusow on Day 4. Jaffe was also chip leader for Days 2 and 3, holding an impressive lead over the top ten; the same can be said for the Day 5 situation, as he has more than twice the amount of chips compared to the second place.

Tom Nguyen, Henry Doiban, Dmitri Haskaris and Anthony Newman were all sent to the rail one at a time, with Jaffe playing the major role here. The biggest pot of the event so far was actually between Jaffe and Haskaris: after raising from the cutoff to 72,000, Jaffe was re-raised to 172,000 from the small blind. The flop showed and after a series of raises, Haskari went all-in with pocket tens for a whooping $3.7 million; Jaffe showed for a king-high straight and since the turn and river couldn't improve Haskaris' hand, he was eliminated in 8th place and Jaffe took a confortable lead.
