Kentucky Case: Poker Networks Start Blocking Kentucky Residents
Merge Poker Network and Microgaming Poker Network have announced they started blocking IP addresses belonging to Kentucky residents from all their sites, whether they are included in the 141 domain list or not.
It was previously posted here that the Kentucky judge Thomas Wingate has stated that 141 .com domains
belonging to online casinos in the Kentucky area would be seized by the
state.
Big poker organisms such as The Poker Players Association (PPA),
along with officials from iMEGA and the Internet Commerce Association
(ICA) have reacted to this decision shortly after, claiming that the
judge did not act appropriately on this matter.
Soon after this, Merge Poker Network announced that they will begin blocking the IP addresses belonging to Kentucky residents and Microgaming recently claimed they will do the same thing, starting with November.
Microgaming stated that they will block access to all their poker and casino-related services from the residents of 13 states: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New
Jersey, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, and Wisconsin and
Utah.
Merge Poker Network includes sites such as CarbonPoker, PokerNordica, ReeferPoker or Walker Poker, while the Microgaming Poker Network contains domains like DoylesRoom, CoolHandPoker, Ladbrokes Poker, Crazy Poker, Poker Host, and Poker Time.
