LAPT Expands To Mexico

After a certainly successful first season of the PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour, the organisers expand this season into three more countries. Amongst them there is also Mexico, where the Tour will have a stop in early December.
With meanwhile six stops – instead of three Tour stops – the LAPT follows into the trails of success of the EPT, which has advanced to the most important poker tour outside of the USA. A big part of the success has the symbiosis with PokerStars, the biggest poker room of the world, whose online qualifiers fill the casinos.
Stagnating Number of Participants in San José no Reason for Worry
It is this success story which the LAPT now wants to repeat in Latin America. The number of participants declined in the first event of the season, in San José, but the organisers already know this from the EPT.After a considerable increase of the buy-in in the second season, the EPT was struggling with an even harsher decline in participants for a short while. However, the hiccup in the number was only short-lived, and meanwhile nobody mentions too high buy-ins anymore. Quite the opposite in fact, as the rush is not only unchecked, but also increases from season to season.
Over 1,000 Participants in the first Season
Over 1,000 players signed up for the three LAPT events of the first season, generating an overall prize pool of $2,601,325. With six stops in the second season, these records will of course be obliterated. However, even more important is the realisation that the LAPT establishes itself as the next international major tour. Further increases of the buy-ins in the next years are not ruled out.Picturesque Scenery entices the Stars to Latin America
The organisers once again picked the tourist months as the period of time for their events. Thus the pros are able to treat themselves to a vacation and also participate in a major at the same time. The picturesque scenery of Latin America will certainly be a more attractive area for some players than the often cold and rainy Europe. The six Stops
Besides Mexico, Argentina and Chile will enlarge the schedule. The stops in Brazil, Uruguay and Costa Rica (already played) are supposed to remain. On the official homepage, the new stops are not yet displayed, but they will certainly be added in the near future. You don't have a PokerStars account yet?
