No further HSP season?

The rumour is spreading like wildfire. Apparently, GSN plans to no longer produce new episodes of the TV show High Stakes Poker. Instead, rumours about a new TV show are making a circuit.

In general, the new HSP season for the current year was produced in March or April. This year though, it was not meant to happen. And indeed it seems that the popular show will be cancelled.

Here the triggering comment by AJ Benza:

AJ Benza"Far as Gabe and I know….the show isn't coming back. Apparently…the network is going to go in a different direction and that ain't good news for our show, especially since we skew a higher-aged audience. Never mind that we’re the network’s No. 1 show. Still and all, no one calls us from the network to say squat. Only Kevin Bellincoff checks in periodically, but it just don’t seem like good news. If you ask me…they’re treating us like shit. All we ever did was make them a bunch of money.
The end of the show, should it come like this, would be rather on short notice. Until now, everybody assumed that a further season would be produced. But supposedly, GSN already has another poker show in the works, in which, according to unconfirmed information, poker pros visit various home games to play there with the amateurs.
