Each day a November Nine in detail. Today: Scott Montgomery – the 26-year old Canadian will enter the finale of the WSOP Main Event with the third-biggest stack. In his opinion, his playing style is very aggressive.

Asked about his performance in the $10,000 Championship, Montgomery said that he believes to be a player who does especially well in tournaments. "It is probably due to my very aggressive playing style. In the small tournaments, it is not that easy to bluff. However, in the expensive tournaments, it's much easier to push your opponents out of the hand."

Scott Montgomery If he will stick to his tactics at the final table as well is anyone's guess. After all, there are over 9 million dollars at stake for rank 1. From the $900,000 which were already paid out, Montgomery bought a new car and invested the rest profitably.

In any case, his current run in 2008 make him a serious opponent for sure. The prelude to his most successful poker year so far began in February at the WPT L.A. Poker Classics, where he reached the fifth place. In his first WSOP overall, he cashed three times before entering the Main Event in which he ended up on the final table. Even during the WSOP Main Event, he finished fourth in the $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em Event of the Bellagio Cup IV. In August, he ended up on rank 9 in a $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Event of the Legends of Poker.

Actually, Montgomery emerged from the online scene, similar to Demidov. About four years ago, he learned the game in Japan while he worked there as an English teacher. If he wasn't teaching, he usually sat at the online tables and studied one poker book after the other. Quite successfully too as one can see.

Thus he also regards poker as an "easy way to earn money". Most of his winnings were re-invested in long-term assets. Despite his terrific advancement, he knows that one never finishes one's training when it comes to poker. "If somebody gave me any good suggestions on how to improve my game I would not turn them down."
