The 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure starts today with the $100,000 Super High Roller event kicking off the festival. While the $10,000 Main Event begins on Saturday, those interested in playing or following the series are spoiled for choice.

The 2012 PCA features dozens of events with a range of buy-ins from the nosebleed $100,000 event down to $300 turbos and a selection of $1,000 to $5,000 buy-ins events.

In addition, there are a variety of innovative formats including No Limit "Rivers" which plays as a regular Hold 'em event but with two rivers dealt and Dealer's Choice Omaha, where the player on the button can choose 4-card or 5-card Omaha.

The $100,000 Super High Roller

Last year saw the introduction of a $100,000 buy-in event, termed the Super High Roller to differentiate it from the $25,000 High Roller.

The event attracted 38 entries and saw a final table packed with poker talent, including the likes of Daniel
'Adminjunglemandan' Cates, James Obst and Nick Schulman.

Eugene Katchalov defeated Daniel Negreanu heads-up to win $1.5 million and his second major live tournament title. Negreanu's second-place finish was enough to put him atop the all-time money list ahead of Phil Ivey.

Katchalov will be returning to defend his title at the 2012 PCA Super High Roller alongside fellow PokerStars Pros Jonathan Duhamel, Daniel Negreanu, former PCA champion Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom.

Also confirmed for the event are EPT champions Mike McDonald and Sam Stein as well as Erik Seidel, Isaac Haxton, 2011 PCA champion Galen Hall and PokerStrategists Philipp ' philgruissem' Gruissem and Randy 'AdminnanonokoPS' Lew.

The 2012 PCA Main Event

The $10,000 Main Event of the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure begins on Saturday, January 7 and will run until the final table plays out on January 13. The event will be broadcast on a 40-minute delay with all hole cards shown on PokerStars.tv.

Last year, Galen Hall defeated a field of 1,560 players to win the 2011 PCA Main Event and take down a first prize of $2.3 million after defeating Chris Oliver heads-up.

We will be bringing you the action from both the $100,000 Super High Roller and the Main Event in our daily news coverage.
