PsychoBennyYesterday, it was all about the £850,000 win bonus for the the final eight players. In a rapidly moving final table, the American Aaron Gustavson prevailed in the heads-up over the WSOP champ Peter Eastgate. The German Nikolai Senninger came in third.
Senninger third, Gustavson defeats Eastgate
Senninger benefited from two double-ups against the Norwegian Martin Gudvangen. At first, the German won against him with A-8 vs. T-6 and then again with Q-Q vs. Q-J. In the end, it was Senninger, who wiped out Gudvangen with A-Q vs. A-3. Fourth place for the Norwegian was paid £227,000.
However,
Senninger could not get beyond place 3. With the board showing 3-7-Q-9,
the German called the American’s all-in after intense reflection. Aaron
Gustavson had hit the top pair with Q-T, Nikolai held pocket eights, on
the river brought a ten, and thus Senninger was knocked out.The heads-up began with a 2:1 chip lead for Gustavson. The hesitation did not last long, and did not give the still reigning WSOP champ Peter Eastgate an opportunity even to defend himself. In the final hand, Eastgate went all-in with A-9 suited after raise and reraise. Gustavson called with A-Q, both missed the board and the winner of this year's EPT London was certain. For the first place, Aaron Gustavson was paid £850,000, the equivalent of about $1.3 million.
