The Daily Rewind: PokerStars VPPs Record, Nevada Regulations, Negreanu Ex-GF

Bjoerniboy's 3,058,659.92 VPPs in 2011

The Man Behind the Volume

The number above isn't a typo. German poker pro and PokerStrategist Björn Bjoerniboy Schneider has successfully taken the world record for VPPs earned on PokerStars in a calendar year.

He announced on Twitter that he earned 3,058,659.92 VPPs for the year and took the record formerly set by fellow PokerStars Team Online member, Kevin "WizardOfAhhs" Thurman.

Over the past year, Bjoerniboy has focused on Heads-Up Sit & Go's, and in 2011 alone he managed to move up in stakes from $100 buy-ins to $5,000 buy-ins - including several sessions multitabling against Viktor "Isildur1" Blom.

Taking into account all of the different rewards that he could claim (Milestone Cash Credits, FPP rewards, etc.), Bjoerniboy received over $380,000 in kickbacks from PokerStars this year.

This goes to show that if you put in a lot of work at poker, you'll see results. Just try hard not to develop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome while chasing this record in 2012. 

Nevada Regulations Revealed

We reported in a Daily Rewind from last week that the state of Nevada in the US approved regulations for intrastate online poker. This paved the way for the state to legally allow their residents to participate in online gaming in 2012.



After the news was released, the actual regulations came out. The following list includes some regulations that will most directly affect players:

• All players must be at least 21 years old to play online poker through any Nevada poker sites
• All player information must be kept confidential, and all player funds must be segregated from operating funds
• Players will be required to provide detailed information about themselves, including Social Security numbers for American citizens
• Deposit methods will include cash at a brick and mortar location, checks, wire transfers, money orders, credit/debit cards, and electronic checks or debits
• Player-to-player transfers will not be allowed

As one would expect, players can also set limits for themselves based on time spent, money lost, or amount deposited, and players will have the ability to self-exclude themselves from playing.

WAG of the day

Today's choice on our list of the best poker WAGs (wives and girlfriends) is Hungarian model Krisztina Polgar. She was named Miss Earth Hungary in 2008, and she has been romantically linked to poker pros Richard Toth and Daniel Negreanu.
