The World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star event attracted a total of 333 players, who each bought in for $10,000. The total prize pool for the event stood at close to $3 million.

On top of the usual tournament prize pool, the event also featured a list of shooting stars (famous and accomplished players) with a $5,000 bounty on each of their heads. Among them were Tom "Durrrr" Dwan, Daniel Negreanu, Johnny Chan and Gus Hansen.

After 3 days of play, Phil Hellmuth was second in chips going into the final table, and a hot favourite to finally take down his first WPT title. Things however did not go as planned, and Hellmuth was the first to exit Day 4 in sixth place.

After his pocket queens were taken out by on the river by Andy Seth's A-J, Hellmuth's reaction to the bust out surprised everyone. Instead of the usual angry rant at how bad his opponent played, he just stepped off the stage, kneeled down and curled up into the foetal position on the floor.

Karr completes his comeback

More than 10 hours after the final table had started, McLean Karr finally sealed the deal. He moved all in with pocket eights, was called by Seth's pocket fours and it held up.

Karr who was down to just 10 big blinds when they were still 27 players left, completed a seemingly impossible comeback, and earned $878,500 for his efforts. The full results from the final table are as follows:
