WPT Foxwoods Day 3: Mizrachi back among the leaders

Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi ground his way through the day to end among the chip leaders. He is once again back in 6th place with 575,000 chips.

Michael MizrachiOnly 27 players are left after Day 3 of the WPT Foxwoods World Poker Finals. The volatile Soheil Shamseddin is the current chip leader with 945,000 chips and is followed by Lee Markholt and his 812,000 chips. Michael Mizrachi (pictured right) is some way behind with 575,000 chips and is in 6th place.

Lee Markholt broke the record for the most WPT cashes today by cashing in his 20th WPT event. Prior to this latest cash, he is tied with the great Barry Greenstein who is now second with 19 cashes. Barry skipped the event to catch buddy Phil Ivey at the Main Event final table in Las Vegas.

A suckout breaks the bubble

With just 1 player left to the cash, a very short-stacked Cornel Farris couldn't have hoped for much better with his . Cornel Cimpman decided to make the cheap call and showed . Despite being ahead before the flop, Farris was sent home empty handed as Cimpman makes a straight.

Nenad MedicA while after the bubble burst, Nenad Medic (pictured right) also hit the rails with his short-stack. Medic pushed with but was unlucky to run into Curt Kohlberg's . The kings held up and Medic was eliminated in 33rd place to earn $21,588.

Bubble breaker Cimpman took a tough beat towards the very end which cost him almost 500,000 chips. With on the flop, Shamseddin check-raised to 100,000 after Cimpman made it 30,000, and Cimpman called. With on the turn, Shamseddin left just 106,000 chips behind with a 240,000 raise.

Cimpman goes all-in and Shamseddin called as he is pot commited. Cimpman had top pair with against Shamseddin's for bottom pair and an open-ended straight draw. The landed on the river and gave Shamseddin two-pair to give him the massive 940,000 chip pot and the chip lead.
