WSOP 2008 - Only 3 days to go
Published on 26 May 08 15:58 by Drakhor
In three days the 39th World Series of Poker will open its gates again. The WSOP is the most prestigious event in the tournament schedule and will entice countless amounts of pros and amateurs to the tables in the Rio Hotel and Casino.
In the following weeks, every star and wanna-be in the poker scene will be found in Las Vegas. The 39th edition of the WSOP will turn the city into the ultimate Poker Mekka again.
Last year, over 50,000 registrations to the multitude of tournaments were counted, and the players gambled for a combined prize pool of over $150 million.
On May 28th the registration for this year's WSOP opens in the Rio and the first satellites will be started, before it finally means »shuffle up and deal« again on May 30th. 55 events will be played off in this year with buy-ins ranging from $1,500 to $50,000.
That this WSOP will definitely be the longest of all time is also due to the new regulation of the Main Event. The final table of the tournament will not be played until November. On the other hand, every poker enthusiast will be able to watch the finale on TV with only a minimal time delay.
For the benefit of the players, the controversial poker tent with sauna-like temperatures will be a thing of the past this year. Cell phones will also be banned from the tables and can only be used at least a table length away.
Some PokerStrategists will also participate, amongst others our coaches
