WSOP Event #24: 19 players To Enter Day 3

Day 2 of the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em event quickly lost over half of the remaining players and with the final cards being dealt for the day, only 19 players were still standing.

WSOP Event 24The remaining 270 returned for the Day 2 of the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em. The field was still filled with stellar names and even a priest from Chicago, Michael Wernette. Humberto Brenes was another interesting character in the room, though he was sent to the rail early on.

In his last hand, Brenes shoved his last 15,000 with pocket jacks and got called by Douglas Faulkner. Brenes shouted, "Show me ace-king!", and Faulkner granted him his request, turning over AcKc. The board came 2sKs7c7s7h and Brenes wished his whole table good luck before packing his bags and taking a walk to the payout desk.

After roughly three hours of play, the field lost 150 of the 270 players at the beginning of the day. The pace remained the same until there were around 70 players left in the tournament and that's when things slowed down a bit. Even though people were no longer busted every few minutes, the play still provided plenty of action.

An interesting hand developed between Chris Sparks and Roberto Truijers. On a flop of 6s3hTc, Truijers checked, Chris Sparks bet 39,000 and Truijers made the call. The turn came 4d and both players checked. The river brought Ac, Truijers checked and after nearly two minutes of consideration, Sparks fired a bet for 100,000. Truijers took nearly twice as long to make his decision and then made a great call with 2h2d, as Sparks mucked his cards.

Day 2 came to an end with just 19 players still in the tournament. Here are the 10 most successful chips collectors for the day:
