WSOP Event #52: Jorg Peisert Wins The Triple Chance Event

Day 3 of the $3,000 No Limit Hold'em Triple Chance Event featured an exciting final table where nothing was certain and no hand was bound to win the pot.

WSOP Event 52With 16 players still left in the race for the title, the $3,000 No Limit Hold'em Triple Chance Event #52 was ready for its final play day. Jason Dewitt ended Day 2 in the chip lead, but with An "The Boss" Tran, Jason "JCarver" Somerville and others trailing behind him, it was far from clear who would make it to the final table.

Tran couldn't make it to the final table, along with 6 other players, including the official final table bubble boy Max Greenwood. The action began with Greenwood making a raise to 40,000 from under the gun, Somerville called from middle position and Jorg Peisert re-raised to 175,000 from the big blind. Greenwood replied by moving all-in, Somerville folded and Peisert made the call. Greenwood showed JdJc while Peisert held AsKd and it was all over on the flop of AhQh7s, as the turn came 4d and the river brought 3s. One of Greenwood's supporters commented, "You gotta win races." Greenwood lost this race and had to pack his bags in 10th place.

Wes Watson was the first victim of the final table. Jason Dewitt raised to 38,000, Watson moved all-in for 189,000 and Dewitt called with KcJh. Watson tabled 7c7d but it didn't hold up, since the board came Qh4h3dJdTs. That jack on the turn busted Watson in 9th place for which he earned $47,070.

The play suddenly changed the pace at this point, as the players battled mostly pre-flop. After over 20 minutes of no flops, one finally arrived. Dewitt raised to 75,000 and Jorg Peisert called. The flop came  Th6d4h and Dewit check-folded to a 100,000 bet from Peisert. Peisert flashed TdTc and scooped the pot.
the better hands don't always win
WSOP Event 52It took a while before the next player was eliminated and it turned out to be William Erickson. He opened all-in for 228,000 and Jorg Peisert quickly made the call with QdQh. Erickson turned over AcTh and with the board revealing 6c8s3cKc6d, Erickson was sent to the rail in 8th place.

Karga Holt was in a much better position when he put his tournament life at stake. Action began with Michael Katz making a raise to 76,000 and it was folded around to Holt who moved all-in for 503,000. Katz took ages to make a decision, several times trying to throw in the chips to make the call but his arm just wouldn't do it. Katz said, "This is close, this is so close. I think I'm going to need to flip a coin on this one."

Benyamin Gilbert pulled out a coin and tossed it across the table which gave everyone a good laugh and even drew a smile from Katz. After several minutes in the tank, Katz finally decided to make the call and showed KdQd. Holt tabled AhKh and the flop came QsKsKc. The turn brought Js and the river came 2d, thus eliminating Holt in 7th place.

Even though the deck treated him well, Katz' luck had to eventually run out. He shoved all-in a few times and finally someone decided to call him. Jorg Peisert opened for 150,000, Katz moved all-in and Peisert called with pocket threes but wasn't too happy to see Katz turning over pocket fours. Peisert stepped away from the table but quickly returned when the flop came 2h5h3s. Katz still had many outs but missed them all since the turn brought 8d and the river came 7c. Katz had to leave in 6th place for which he earned $79,385.

Jason Somerville found himself in trouble in a hand against Jason Dewitt. Somerville moved all-in from the small blind with Kd7h and Dewitt called with Ad6h from the big blind. Neitherplayer improved his hand which meant Somerville would have to pack his bags in 5th place and collect $103,591 in prize money.

Benjamin Gilbert fell just short of the heads-up play, ending his run in 3rd place. Gilbert moverd all-in for 560,000 and Peisert thought for a minute or so, even though he had over five million chips. Peisert decided to make the call and showed Ac8h while Gilbert jokingly slammed over his hand and turned over  9s5s. The board came Ad7d7hTc9h, thus eliminating Gilbert.

Jorg Peisert grinded his way to the title and when the final hand of the tournament approached, Jason Dewitt was down to roughly 600,000 chips. Peisert raised to 180,000, Dewitt checked his cards and moved all-in. Peisert snap-called with 9h9d and Dewitt tabled Kh4c. The board ran 7dAd7c6sTc and Dewitt was out in 2nd place, earning $313,227 for his efforts.

Jorg Peisert proved to be the most successful player amongst a total of 854 entrants for the $3,000 No Limit Hold'em Triple Chance tournament. Many top pros were sent to the rail on Day 1 and after three play days, Peisert has earned himself $506,800 and his firts WSOP gold bracelet.
