WSOP Event 55Event #55 of WSOP 2009 had 258 entries, and generated a total prize pool of $593,400. Day 3 of the event started with just the 9 players who had battled their way through the first two days. Nam Le and Hertzel Zalewski were quickly eliminated at 9th and 8th place respectively and we were down to the last 7 players for the final table.

Abe Mosseri was in dominant form on Day 3. He started the day in the chip lead with 447,000 chips and never looked back. After 7 odd hours of play, he emerged as the eventual winner of 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball event.

Julie Schneider got $66,286 for her third place finish, while Masayoshi Tanaka earned $102,313 after finishing second. Both were sent to the rails by the seemingly unstoppable Mosseri.

In his impressive run towards the $165,513 first prize, Mosseri single handedly took out all of his final 3 opponents.

In the hand that eliminated John Juanda in fourth place. Juanda was all in from the start as he didn't even have enough chips to cover his big blind. Mosseri drew two cards at the first round and stood pat with 9-8-7-4-2. Juanda started well with 8-6-2, but his final draw gave him J-Q, and he was gone.

Julie Schneider was up next. In the hand that saw her eliminated, Schneider put in her last 20,000, which was just enough for a call. The hand involved all 3 remaining players. After the 3 rounds of draws Mosseri showed 9-5-4-3-2. Neither Schneider nor Tanaka could beat the nine, and Schneider ended her very respectable run in the event.

Heads-up play started with Tanaka just ahead of Mosseri in the chip count. However, Mosseri immediately turned on the pressure and turned the tables on Tanaka right after play restarted. Half an hour later, the final hand of the event was dealt.

After the starting cards were dealt, Mosseri reraised Tanaka's button bet. Tanaka drew two cards after calling Mosseri's bet, while Mosseri drew just one. Mosseri then bet and was called by Tanaka. In the second round of draws, Tanaka drew one card as Mosseri drew none. Tanaka went all in as he four-bet into the pot.

Both players stood pat on the last round of draws. Abe Mosseri then showed 7-6-5-3-2 and Tanaka could only nod in acknowledgement as he was well beaten. Mosseri outlasted the field and earned his second cash in WSOP 2009 and his first ever gold WSOP bracelet.
