WSOP

A total of 928 players registered for Event #56, the $5,000 No Limit Six-Handed event and after two days of play, 16 seats were still taken. One of those seats belonged to PokerStrategist Thorsten Thorsten77 Schaefer, who came to the tables with the 6th highest chip stack. At the end of the day, our member managed to cash in a little over $100,000.

WSOP Thorsten77 had a very nice run throughout Day 3, and at one point he even became the chip leader.
However, things did not work out and he was eventually eliminated in 8th place, thus missing a 7-seat final table.

One hand that crippled his stack was K-J. Josh Brikis went all-in preflop with AcTd and Thorsten77 made the call. Unfortunately for our PokerStrategist, the board showed Ah3h7s2s5s and Brikis doubled up to 880,000.

The final hand that sent our member to the rail saw him getting AhQd versus Faraz Jaka. Thorsten77 raised it pre-flop to 2.5 BB and Jaka made the call. Flop came 3c7cJd and both players checked. The turn brought the 4c and Jaka bet 175,000 in a 190,000 pot, which Schaefer called after thinking for a while.

When the river showed the Qs, Jaka made another pot-size bet and Schaefer went all-in. However, Jaka showed AcTc for the nut flush and our player was out in 8th place.

Nevertheless, Thorsten77's 8th place finish got him a very nice cash prize - $100,230 - so we can congratulate him for this great achievement at the WSOP!

Right after Thorsten77's elimination, the final table was set and seven players were seated.

Players were sent to the rail one by one until the action switched to heads-up between Matt "Hoss_TBF" Hawrilenko and Josh Brikis. Hawrilenko reached this phase with a stack of over 9 million chips and it only took four hands for him to become the $5,000 No Limit Six-Handed champion.

The final hand of the tournament had Brikis raising to 300,000 from the SB. Hawrilenko raised it to 1,000,000 and Brikis then said "All in!". Hawrilenko immediately replied "Call!" and showed JhJd, while Brikis had Ad9d.

The board came 2h8c8d3sTc and Josh Brikis was eliminated in second place, cashing in $619,609 for his efforts. This means Matt Hawrilenko took home the big prize of over one million dollars - $1,003,163, to be precise.
