Day 2 of the $5,000 Six-Handed No Limit Hold'em Event came to an end and PokerStrategist Thorsten77 had a great run, as he is still in the race. He will be returning tomorrow with the 6th highest chip stack.
Thorsten77 Schaefer, who was ranked 6th at the end of Day 2.These 16 players are now in for a interesting race, as the first place prize is tempting to say the least: $1,003,218 will go to the winner of this event.
Malte
bagger0405 Stothmann was another of our members who managed to get past Day 1 and he was seen at the tables today, starting with 21,000 chips. He had, however, a pretty good run throughout the tournament, with some interesting hands being played. Two particular hands helped bagger0405 move up the rankings: sitting in the Big Blind, he picked up QQ. The levels were 800/1,600 and 300 ante, when the Small Blind limps. bagger0405 raises to 2.6 BB and the SB makes the call, so they both see a rainbow flop: J-3-5. SB goes all-in and bagger0405 insta-calls, showing his queens, while the SB only had J-4. The turn and river were blanks, so bagger0405 made a nice profit.
Another hand that brought him profit was when he hit KK in the SB. Blinds were the same and UTG opens to 2.5 BB (4,000), while bagger0405 re-raises to 11,000 and UTG calls. Flop brings 3-6-7, bagger0405 bets 12,000, UTG goes all-in for 40 BB and he makes the call. His opponent shows 7-8 and fails to improve on the next streets, thus being sent to the rail while bagger0405 increases his chip stack.
However, bagger0405 was later eliminated when he picked up QQ again, but this time from UTG. The blind levels were 2,000/4,000 and 500 ante and he opens to 2.5 BB, while the SB calls and the BB folds. Flop comes J-5-4, SB checks, bagger0405 bets 16,000 and SB calls. Turn brings a 6, SB checks again, bagger0405 bets 30,000 and SB goes all-in for almost 50 Big Blinds. bagger0405 calls and shows his queens, but his opponent shows 5-6 for two pair and the river does not bring any help for our PokerStrategist.
Nevertheless,
bagger0405 had a quite good run and he receives $12,561 for finishing the tournament in 59th place. Congratulations to him!
Thorsten77 was the second PokerStrategist who entered Day 2. He sat at the table with a stack of 198,000 chips and made his first profit when he picked up 66 on the cut-off.Hijack opens to 2.5 BB, Thorsten77 calls, while the other players fold. Flop comes 7-7-8 with two spades. Hijack makes a continuation bet and Thorsten77 raises but he gets called. The turn brings a Ks, thus completing a potential flush and Hijack checks, Thorsten77 bets pot-size, then Hijack flat-calls.
River is a blank and Hijack checks again. Thorsten77 bets 160,000 into a 120,000 pot, which makes his opponent start thinking. After tanking for a while, the Hijack folds and shows his cards - AA.
At the end of the day,
Thorsten77 is sitting quite comfortably, having the 6th highest stack - 1,094,000 in chips to be precise. He will be returning on Day 3 for more action and he already has a guaranteed prize of $$37,378. Best of luck to him tomorrow!Below you can find the top 10 chip stacks at the end of Day 2:
