WSOPE: 'Boosted J' Chip Leader After Day 3

Published on 01 Oct 08 12:40 by Drakhor

Online prodigy Justin 'Boosted J' Smith from the United States finished on top of the field in the Main Event of the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) in London yesterday.

Justin Smith in the Chip Lead

Smith, born in 1988 in Hartford, Connecticut, is not even allowed yet to enter a casino in the USA with his 20 years, but quite a few people already know about him. Already over a year ago, you were able to see the up-and-coming player at the highest limits on a regular basis, including the $1k/$2k H.O.R.S.E games on Full Tilt.

Rank 14 in the £5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event of the current WSOPE is his biggest live success so far. This is now followed by the chip lead in the £10,000 Main Event - behind him players like Daniel Negreanu on rank 2 and John Juanda on rank 3. With a win, Smith would be able to climb up the ranks towards the really great ones.

John JuandaHowever, it is still quite a way to get there. Besides Negreanu and Juanda, other players are still in the race like Philippe Rouas, Brian 'sbrugby' Townsend, Soren Kongsgaard, Brandon Adams, Andy Bloch, Scott Fischman, Erik Seidel and Mike Matusow amongst others.

No Luck for our Coach

Yesterday was not really successful for our community. Coach Florian 'Morgoth' Langmann already had to clear his seat shortly after Day 3 kicked off.

After a raise by James Keys, Florian pushed all-in with as a short stack. Keys called with and already hit his pair on the flop of . Turn and river didn't change anything, and Florian had to join the rails. His comment about the hand:

Florian Langmann It sucks that the guy had to make such a bad call with JTo. No matter how you look at it, he doesn't get the correct odds. On the other side, it is of course not such a big deal for him. Oh well, let's hope I'll do better at the EPT!
