iPoker Network Changes Rake Distribution Method
Starting on March 5, cash game rake for all sites on the iPoker Network will undergo one change: rake will be distributed according to the "weighted contributed" method instead of "average contributed".
Whenever a cash game hand is played on a site on the iPoker Network, the site rewards the players who participated in the hand with VIP Points.
While each iPoker site maintains the VIP system in a slightly different way, they currently all distribute VIP Points based on the "average contributed" method. Under this method, all players who reach the flop of a hand are awarded an equal number of VIP Points at the end of the hand, regardless of their actual contribution to the pot.
The weighted contributed method
On March 5, 2012, all sites on the iPoker Network will switch to the "weighted contributed" method for distributing VIP Points.Under the new method, VIP Points will be awarded proportionately according to how much money each player puts into a pot. If you put 40% of the chips into the pot, you'll receive 40% of the VIP Points at the end of the hand, and so on.
Example of the change
Here is a simple example to highlight the difference between the old system and the new system that will be implemented on March 5:In a $1/$2 No Limit Hold'em hand, all players fold to the button.
The player on the button moves all-in for $20. The small blind moves all-in for $80 total. The big blind has them both covered and calls.
The total amount in the pot is now $180 ($20 + $80 + $80). Let's hypothetically say that the iPoker site that we're on awards 9 VIP Points for a pot of this size.
Using the old "average contributed" method, each of the 3 players would receive an equal share of the VIP Points, 3 each.
With the new "weighted contributed" method, the player on the button contributed 11.11% to the pot and thus receives 11.11% of the VIP Points - in this case, 1 point. The other two players contributed 44.44% to the pot and receive 44.44% of the VIP Points - 4 points each.
Which PokerStrategy.com partners will this apply to?

I've always maintained that rakeback/vip systems are just a bonus and that profit should be made at the table. Therefore, I don't care.#8
