There are some more tips for playing against an unknown opponent:In here you have to go according to the average tendencies of players, timing tells and the cards that show up on the flop.
Timing tells: How quickly do they check? A very quick check usually means they are weak and have no interest in the pot. If they have some delay it means they probably have something.
Play the board - when an opponent has called you on the flop it is crucial you put them on hand.
Divided into 3 main categories:
A made hand - top pair or higher.
A draw - flush draw/straight draw or simply 2 over cards (many people refuse to let AK go).
A small pocket pair or second pair/ bottom pair.
In lower levels you will see a lot more players chasing draws and calling with over cards - in this case you need to make sure to make a smaller bet on the flop and turn so they will not be pot committed and a big raise on the river to make them fold. If you actually made a hand feel free to bet bigger and milk them for all they have. People on a draw will usually instant call your c-bet.
Small pocket pair / bottom pair 2nd pair - The 2nd barrel should be a big bet to induce a fold.
How to know what your opponent has? If it is an unknown you have no reads you have to go on timing tells and table position.
Position - people on the blinds will be calling with much more marginal hands.
Timing - very important. How quickly was your pre-flop bet called? Did the opponent check on the flop quickly or did he take time to think? How quickly was your c-bet called?
You should also consider the flop texture: If someone has called your c-net on an A-3-8 rainbow flop they have the Ace. If the flop is A-4-6 with 2 diamonds there are much more drawing hands that will call you.
