Your personal roadmap
Some people can't handle money. As soon as they have some, it's gone already. Their account is chronically overdrawn, and everything only works out as long as the salary comes in regularly and no exceptional expenses cross their path. Bad comes to worse when the salary is canceled and major expenses stand in line. Bankruptcy looms.
You need reserve assets
In poker it isn't any different. Your bankroll is the poker equivalent of your household budget. If it's overdrawn, everything is over. Thus you never want to risk losing all your money. For that you need reserve assets. After all, in poker it doesn't always go uphill. Sometimes you're hit by a streak of bad luck and lose one hand after the other. Your poker balance has to be able to withstand this.
On the other hand, you don't want to only play for safety. Your goal is to quickly move up the limits, as more and more money is waiting for you the higher you get.
