Dan Harrington razil tuto frázi při popisování tohoto faktu: hráč v turnaji, který handu v daném kole raisne, nebo raisne all-in<\/a> jako první, získává výhodu; všichni hráči na řadě po něm musí držet výrazně silnější handy než drží on, pokud chtějí dorovnat jeho raise<\/a> a proto budou muset složit i karty, které by jinak hráli.<\/p>

Toto je velmi důležité zejména v závěru turnaje, nebo ve chvílích, kdy hráčův stack<\/a> je příliš malý vzhledem k blindům. V tyto momenty nemá hráč čas čekat na dobré handy a může tedy využít tuto výhodu jít all-in<\/a> jako první. Na jednu stranu dostává pod tlak soupeře se zranitelnými stacky a na druhou stranu využívá i toho faktu, že hráči na řadě přímo po něm nemohou dorovnat ani s dobrou handou, protože po nich jednají hráči, kteří mohou držet nějakou prémiovou handu. Často tedy složí mnoho hand<\/a>, se kterými by za jiných okolností určitě navýšili.<\/p>

Tato fráze je praktickou aplikací Sklanskyhy gap conceptu, který říká, že potřebujete držet mnohem lepší handu pro dorovnání sázky, než jakou potřebujete pro prvotní vsazení. <\/p>
