EV<\/a> nebo chip-EV je zkratla pro expected value<\/a>.  Předpovídá průměrný počet žetonů, které lze očekávat jako výsledek určité akce. EV<\/a> jednoduše říká: Jaký je průměrný počet žetonů které po této akci získám nebo ztratím? <\/p>

$EV je důležitá pro ICM<\/a>, protože je peněžním ekvivalentem pro EV<\/a>. Vzhledem ktomu, že v turnaji nemůžete chipy vyměnit za peníze, snažíte se namísto toho umístit v turnaji tak vysoko jak je to možné. $EV vám pomáhá odpovědět na otázku: Jak ovlivní tato akce akce mojí expected value<\/a> a moje umístění v turnaji? <\/p>

Důležité: Vzhledem k tomu, že neexistuje žádná přímá souvislost mezi EV<\/a> a $EV (tj. dvojnásobná EV<\/a> se nerovná dvojnásobné $EV), existují akce, které jsou +EV, ale -$EV.
