Vor kurzem veröffentlichte Harrah’s das Schedule zur World Series of Poker Europe 2009. Los geht’s am 17. September.
Bereits zum dritten Mal lädt Harrah’s zur WSOP Europe, dem europäischen Ableger der großen WSOP, ins Londoner Empire Casino. Vom 17. September bis zum 1. Oktober stehen am Leicester Square erneut vier Bracelet-Events auf dem Turnierplan.
Michael Silberling, COO der London Clubs International äußerte sich erfreut über die Gastgeberrolle:
"The Casino at the Empire has quickly become the destination for poker in the U.K. We look forward to hosting the best players in the game for the WSOPE this fall and will continue to offer the finest poker action daily for those in Leicester Square."
Und Jeffrey Pollack, WSOP Kommissar ergänzte:

In den vergangenen Jahren schaffte es Harrah’s einige der besten Spieler der Welt nach London zu locken. Insbesondere die US-amerikanische Pokerelite findet man in Europa nur zur WSOPE so dicht an den Tischen gedrängt.
Teilnehmer wie Doyle Brunson, Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey, Johnny Chan, Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Patrik Antonius, Scotty Nguyen, Chris Ferguson, Gus Hansen, John Juanda, Eric Seidel, Mike Matusow und Vanessa Rousso sprechen eine deutliche Sprache.
2008 gewann John Juanda (Bild rechts) ein epochales Finale, als er nach 21 Stunden Spielzeit am Final Table den Sieg errang und dabei unter anderem Daniel Negreanu, Scott Fischman und Ivan Demidov hinter sich ließ. Juandas Lohn für die Marathonsession waren £868.800.

Zur Überraschung vieler Pokerfans und zur Enttäuschung einiger Pokerspieler strich Harrah’s dieses Jahr das H.O.R.S.E.-Event aus dem Turnierplan. Ersatz soll ein £2,500 + £150 Pot Limit Hold'em & Pot Limit Omaha Mix-Turnier bieten.
