Das erste Event der Epic Poker League (EPL) ist beendet und kann aus Sicht der meisten Beobachter als Erfolg verbucht werden. Vor vier Tagen bezahlten 137 Spieler das Buy-in von $20.000 und heute blieb nur ein einziger Spieler übrig –  Chino Rheem.<\/p>

Die Teilnehmerzahlen übertrafen die Erwartungen deutlich und auch die Qualität des Spiels insgesamt ließ keine Wünsche offen. So war die überwiegende Mehrheit der 137 Teilnehmer EPL-Mitglied (es gibt insgesamt 253 EPL-Mitglieder) und können daher bereits sehr gute Turnierergebnisse vorweisen. Viele Fische waren an den Tischen nicht zu sehen.<\/p>

Auch die sechs Spieler, die heute am letzten Tag des Turniers noch dabei waren, waren allesamt entweder WPT- oder WSOP-Gewinner.<\/p>

Der Final Table<\/h2>

Um 14:00 Uhr Ortszeit gingen Hasan Habib, Jason Mercier, Chino Rheem, Erik Seidel, Gavin Smith und Huck Seed (in absteigender Reihenfolge nach Größe ihrer Stacks) an den Final Table.<\/p>

Eines der Ziele der Epic Poker League ist es, an ihren Feature Tables so viele Topspieler wie möglich zu haben – was sie mit ihrem ersten Final Table mit Sicherheit geschafft haben.<\/p>

Huck Seed musste als erster seinen Hut nehmen und wurde gefolgt von Gavin Smith. Und obwohl Hasan Habib als Chipleader in den letzten Tag gegangen war, schied er schon auf dem vierten Platz aus.<\/p>

Am Ende kämpften also Erik Seidel, Jason Mercier und Chino Rheem um den Titel.<\/p>

Zwei Giganten treffen aufeinander<\/h2>

Nachdem die drei Finalisten einige Zeit die Chips hin und her schoben, hatte Mercier irgendwann nur noch 15BB vor sich liegen. Damit ging er vom Small Blind all-in und wurde von Erik Seidel im Big Blind gecallt.<\/p>

Mercier zeigte \"9c\"\"8d\" während Seidel \"Kc\"\"Jc\" umdrehte. Das Board kam \"6s\"\"5c\"\"4s\" \"6h\" \"Td\" und Seidels Hand war stark genug, um einen der härtesten Konkurrenten aus dem Turnier zu werfen.<\/p>

Obwohl viele Fans auf ein Heads-up zwischen Mercier und Seidel gehofft hatten, sollten wir vielleicht zufrieden sein, dass es nicht so weit gekommen ist. Man sollte es mit der \"Epicness\" auch nicht zu weit treiben.<\/p>

Mann gegen Mann<\/h2>

Das Heads-up zwischen Erik Seidel und Chino Rheem dauerte etwas länger als eine Stunde und Seidel musste zu seinem Entsetzen feststellen, dass die Chips hauptsächlich in Richtung von Chino Rheem wanderten.<\/p>

Die beiden spielten annähernd 50 Hände gegeneinander und große Swings waren nicht zu verzeichnen. Am Ende kam es zu einem All-in zwischen Seidels \"Ac\"\"Qh\" und Rheems \"As\"\"Kd\", der seinen Gegner außerdem gecovert hatte.<\/p>

Das Board \"8c\"\"4d\"\"Ad\" \"3d\" \"Td\" half Erik nicht und so wurde Chino Rheem der erste Epic Poker League-Champion überhaupt.
 
Rheem und seine zahlreichen Unterstützer sind sicher mehr als glücklich über den Hauptgewinn von $1 Million. Gerüchten zufolge wird davon aber nicht mehr viel übrig bleiben, nachdem Rheem all seine Schulden beglichen hat.<\/p>

Das erste Event der Epic Poker Legaue wurde von den meisten Beteiligten positiv aufgenommen und man kann davon ausgehen, dass diese Spieler auch im TV gut ankommen werden.<\/p>
