2014 startete für Phil Ivey mit Instagram-Pokerstar Dan Bilzerian und der Behauptung, dass er broke sei<\/a>. In typischer Manier widerlegte Ivey diese Gerüchte schnell, indem er kurzerhand die $250.000 Aussie Millions Challenge und somit $4 Millionen<\/a> gewann (es war bereits das zweite Mal).<\/p>

Ivey tat bei der World Series of Poker außerdem das, was er am besten kann und holte sich beim Eight Game Mix Event sein 10. Bracelet<\/a>. So wurde er auch zweifellos zu Phil Hellmuths<\/strong> größten Verfolger, da dieser mit 13 Bracelets den Rekord hält (dabei sagte Ivey zuvor, dass er nun weniger WSOP-Events spielen wolle, da die Zeiten seiner lukrativen Bracelet-Bets vorbei seien). <\/p>

2014 war auch ein großes Jahr für Phil Ivey als Person des öffentlichen Lebens. Der sonst eher mysteriös und schüchtern wirkende Pro gab sich viel offener und wandte sich den Medien zu<\/a>. Ivey gab mehr Interviews, machte mehr Promotion und wurde selbst zum Star auf twitter und Instagram<\/a>. <\/p>

Ein teures Jahr - an und abseits der Tische<\/h2>

Seinen größten öffentlichen Auftritt hatte er jedoch den zwei Gerichtsprozessen gegen das Crockfords<\/strong> und das Borgata<\/strong> Casino zu verdanken, in denen es um das 'Edge-Sorting' an den Casinotischen ging. <\/p>

Ihm wurde sogar eine Folge der erfolgreichen US-Doku-Show 60 Minutes<\/a> gewidmet, in welcher er Stellung zu den Vorwürfen bezogen hatte und sein Handeln verteidigte. <\/p>

Den ersten Prozess um £7,7 Millionen gegen das Crockfords verlor er in London<\/a>. Er wird aber in Revision gehen. Der Richter gestand ihm, trotz des negativen Urteils, jedoch zu, kein Betrüger zu sein und sich ehrlich verhalten zu haben. Der Borgota-Prozess findet im nächsten Jahr statt. <\/p>

2014 war ebenfalls ein gebrauchtes Jahr an den Online-Tischen. Obwohl er immer noch der größte Gewinner in der Geschichte des Online-Pokers ist, steht er bei den Nosebleed-Partien zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt in diesem Jahr mit mehr als $2,5 Millionen in den roten Zahlen. Der einzige Grund, warum dieser Verlust für nicht allzu viel Aufsehen sorgt, ist wohl sein alter Freund Gus Hansen.<\/strong> Dieser ist 2014 mehr als $5,4 Millionen down und zog so die Aufmerksamkeit auf sich. <\/p>

Es bleibt abzuwarten, ob der medienfreundliche Ivey uns auch 2015 erhalten bleibt oder das Ganze eher Teil seines Plans im Edge-Sorting-Prozess war. Vor allem wird es die Pokerfans jedoch interessieren, ob er das Ruder online wieder rumreißen kann und noch mehr Druck auf Hellmuth und seinen Bracelet-Rekord aufbauen kann.<\/p>
