Das neue Rankingsystem beim WSOP Player of the Year hat schon für reichlich Kontroverse gesorgt<\/a>. Nachdem einer der umstrittensten Spieler Las Vegas nun als Führender des Rennens verlassen wird, dürfte der Höhepunkt erreicht sein.<\/p>

Zugutehalten kann man Chris Ferguson, dass er auf seinem Weg an die Spitze den Rekord für die meisten WSOP-Cashes in einem Jahr pulverisiert<\/a> hat. Insgesamt 17-mal landetet er bei einem Event der WSOP 2017 im Geld. Der vorherige Rekord lag bei 13 Cashes.<\/p>

Allerdings konnte der ehemalige Mitbesitzer von Full Tilt lediglich zweimal einen Final Table erreichen. Die restlichen Preisgelder waren allesamt Mincashes. Spieler wie David Bach, der in diesem Jahr zwei Bracelets gewinnen konnte<\/a>, blieben beim Rennen hingegen auf der Strecke.<\/p>

Die WSOP in Vegas schließt Ferguson mit 898,46 Punkten vor Ryan Hughes mit 876.35 ab. David Bach hingegen landete lediglich auf Platz 62 mit 454.87 Punkten. Im Main Event verbleibt kein Spieler mehr, der Ferguson noch einholen könnte. Allerdings besteht noch bei der WSOPE in Rozvadov im Oktober<\/a> die Möglichkeit, dass jemand Ferguson den Gesamtsieg streitig macht.<\/p>

Beim POY-Race<\/a> wird der am 22. Juli auf Position 1 geführte Spieler, in diesem Fall Ferguson, mit einem €10.000-Seat beim diesjährigen WSOPE Main Event belohnt. Zudem gibt es für den Gesamtführenden nach den insgesamt 11 Events der WSOPE einen $10.000-Seat beim WSOP Main Event 2018.<\/p>
