Es bewahrheitet sich wohl, dass es sich hierbei um den ersten großen Pokerfilm seit Rounders handelt<\/a>, denn Molly's Game wurde für einen Academy Award nominiert.<\/p>\n

Gegen vier weitere Konkurrenten wird man also um den Award in der Kategorie Best Adapted Screenplay kämpfen. Das wird nicht einfach, denn die Mitstreiter heißen Logan, Mudbound, The Disaster Artist<\/strong> und Call Me By Your Name<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Dieser Award ist durchaus renommiert, auch wenn man sich nicht ganz in einer Gewichtsklasse mit Schwergewichten wie Best Picture befindet. Der Film ähnelt seiner Buchvorlage nicht nur, sondern erwähnt sie auch gleich (denn die Story des Films geht über die schriftliche Vorlage hinaus, was in der Verfilmung schon sehr früh klar wird).<\/p>\n

Während Rounders<\/em> vielleicht immer als der<\/em> Pokerfilm in den Köpfen bleiben wird, ist Molly's Game seit The Sting<\/em> aus dem Jahr 1974 immerhin der erste Film, dessen Kern auf Poker aufbaut und der die Chance auf einen Oscar erhält.<\/p>\n
