In den Pokerforen dieser Welt stolpert man immer wieder über Verwunderung, warum griechische Spieler meist durchweg die ersten sind, die sich bei Online-Pokerturnieren anmelden. Während einer großen Turnierserie wie der SCOOP oder WCOOP rückt die Frage noch mehr in den Vordergrund.<\/p>

Bis zum Start von SCOOP-Event 78 dauert es zum Beispiel noch bis Montag. Das Buy-in beträgt $2.100, es gab noch keine Satellites für das Turnier, aber dennoch sind bereits 55 griechische Spieler für das Event registriert.<\/p>

Gehört es in Griechenland etwa zur guten Sitte, dass man frühzeitig bei einem Pokerturnier erscheint? Oder geht etwas anderes vor?<\/p>

Griechische Spieler registrieren sich als erste<\/figcaption><\/figure>

Die Antwort ist recht simpel: Griechische Bürger unterliegen der Player Withholding Tax (PWT)<\/strong> – eine Steuer, die direkt an der Quelle der Auszahlung von Leistungsvergütungen erhoben wird. Am Ende jeder Session müssen Griechen die fällige Steuer auf einen zustande gekommenen Gewinn abführen, die 15% auf jeglichen Profit von €100,01 bis €500 beträgt und 20% auf Gewinne über €500. Wie viel Profit angefallen ist, wird über das Spielerguthaben am Ende der Session ermittelt.<\/p>

Wenn sich griechische Spieler bereits Tage vor einem Turnierstart anmelden, versuchen sie damit diese Besteuerung zu verzögern, indem sie das Buy-in für das Turnier setzen. Im obigen Beispiel bedeutet das: Hat ein griechischer Spieler einen Gewinn von $2.000 in einer Session zustande gebracht und registriert sich für das $2.100-Turnier, sieht das Ganze wie ein Verlust von $100 aus. Das Turnier kann entweder später tatsächlich gespielt werden oder es wird sich wie in den meisten Fällen wieder abgemeldet.<\/p>

Bei Abmeldung wird die Gutschrift des Buy-ins jedoch als neuer Profit beim Guthaben gewertet, was entsprechend wieder besteuert wird. Zählt ein Spieler also langfristig zu den Gewinnern, wird er ohnehin irgendwann die Steuern auf den Profit zahlen müssen. Das Hinauszögern der Besteuerung, das viele Griechen praktizieren, wird mittlerweile scherzhaft als \"Taxes Hold'em\" bezeichnet.
