Phil Ivey ist zurück! Wir haben in letzter Zeit zwar schon deutlich mehr von ihm abseits der Tische gesehen<\/a>, nun hat er aber auch Taten am grünen Filz folgen lassen.<\/p>

Im Finale der WPT Heads-up Championship mit einem Buy-in von $25.000 konnte er sich gegen seinen Kontrahenten alter Tage Patrik Antonius durchsetzen und $400.000 gewinnen.<\/p>

Das Format, das man sich dabei seitens der World Poker Tour für das Turnier ausdachte, war zwar seltsam, aber immerhin mal etwas Neues. Einige der besten Spieler der Welt traten online gegeneinander an, saßen sich dabei aber auch am selben Tisch gegenüber<\/strong>. Den Fans gefiel die Mischung aus einer Art Live-Poker und bei Twitch gestreamten Partien, insbesondere weil sich bei der Championship auch weltweit bekannte Spieler als Co-Kommentatoren die Ehre gaben.<\/p>

Das Finalduell konnte Ivey derweil ohne Satzverlust für sich entscheiden. Alle fünf Partien der Best-of-5-Serie gegen an ihn, womit er seinem langjährigen Kontrahenten Antonius einmal mehr zeigte, wer tatsächlich der GOAT ist. Auf seinem Weg ins Finale hatten zuvor bereits Manig Loeser, Anthony Zinno, Stephen Chidwick<\/strong> und Christopher Kruk <\/strong>gegen Phil Ivey das Nachsehen.

Insbesondere die nachfolgende Hand gegen Kruk, die in der Form von keinem der modernen Solver abgesegnet werden dürfte, war eins der vielen Highlights, die uns Ivey während des Turniers bescherte:<\/p>

Im Gespräch mit Joe Ingram ließ Ivey derweil auch durchblicken, dass er sich wieder vermehrt bei TV-Events zeigen wolle und auch Pläne für die diesjährige World Series of Poker habe. Es scheint, als hätte er seinen Hunger auf Erfolge am Pokertisch neu entdeckt und dass er zum Angriff bläst. Da kann sich der Rest der Szene wohl warm anziehen...<\/p>
