Eine der Überraschungen der World Series of Poker 2023 ist sicherlich der Aufstieg von Ian Matakis, der nun auch offiziell das Rennen zum Spieler des Jahres gewinnen konnte.<\/p>

Diesen Namen hatte wohl zum Beginn der WSOP niemand auf der Rechnung, denn Matakis ist in der Pokerwelt eigentlich ein relativ Unbekannter. Den POY-Titel der World Series schnappen sich für gewöhnlich aber etablierte Highstakes-Spieler, die vor allem in Mixed Games der breiten Spielermasse einiges voraushaben. Matakis hat den Titel nun aber vor allem mit Hold'em- und PLO-Turnieren geholt!<\/p>

Scheinbar aus dem Nichts nahmen seine WSOP-Erfolge in diesem Jahr an Fahrt auf und führten ihn am Ende bis an die Spitze der Rangliste. Insgesamt 22-mal kam er bei der WSOP 2023 in die Preisränge<\/strong>, 14-mal an den Live-Tischen und 8-mal online.<\/p>

An den virtuellen Tischen gewann er auch ein Bracelet beim $500 Bankroll Builder für $120.686 direkt zu Beginn der World Series, gefolgt von einigen deepen Runs in den größten Events der Turnierserie. Insgesamt kann er Turniergewinne von $881.052 bei der WSOP 2023<\/strong> auf der Habenseite verbuchen.<\/p>

Für seinen Sieg beim Rennen um den Titel \"Spieler des Jahres\" bekommt er nun einen Platz im Wert von $10.000 im WSOP Main Event 2024, die bekannte POY-Trophäe sowie einen Banner mit seinem Namen im Paris\/Horseshoe.<\/p>
