Diese waren „Player of the Year“, „Europe’s Leading Lady“, „Rookie of the Year“, „Most notable Tournament Performance of the Year“ und „Staff of the Year“. Der Titel „Europe’s Leading Lady“ wurde zum ersten mal vergeben.<\/p>

Anette Obrestad war in ganzen drei Kategorien nominiert. Am Ende gewann sie den Titel „Most notable Tournament Performance of the Year“. Der Preis wurde ihr für ihren WSOPE Sieg im diesjährigem Main Event vergeben. Mit 19 Jahren ist sie die jüngste Gewinnerin aller Zeiten eines WSOP Events. Außerdem war sie die erste Frau, die ein WSOP Main Event gewinnen konnte, auch wenn es ein Evenz der WSOPE war. Mit der beeindruckenden Leistung setzte sich Obrestad in dieser Kategorie vor allem gegen Alex Kravchenko durch, dem Sieger des „Player of the Year“ Awards. Kravchenko hatte bei der diesjährigen WSOP sieben ITM-Platzierungen und eine Gewinnsumme von über $2.000.000. Das alles machte ihn zum erfolgreichsten Spieler im Jahr 2007. Ebenfalls als „Player of the Year“ nominiert waren der Deutsche Andreas Krause und der Engländer Roland de Wolfe.<\/p>

Die Nominierungen für den Preis des besten Newcomer war sehr stark besetzt. Natürlich wieder nominiert war Anette Obrestad. Außerdem gehörte der junge Österreicher Niki Jedlicka zu den Kandidaten für den „Rookie of the Year“. Gewinnen konnte diesen Titel am Ende jedoch Soren Kongsgaard.<\/p>

Katja Thater wurde als „Europe’s Leading Lady“ ausgezeichnet. Auch für diesen Preis war Anette Obrestad nominiert. Mad Harper durfte sich über die Auszeichnung „Staff of the Year“ freuen. Sie konnte sich gegen den Österreicher Thomas Kremser durchsetzten, der inzwischen wohl zu den bedeutendsten Turniermanagern weltweit gezählt werden darf. Dafür erhielt Kremser dann auch noch einen Sonderpreis für sein Lebenswerk.<\/p>

Deutlich ist wieder der Einfluss der skandinavischen Länder und Englands auf die europäische Pokerszene zu erkennen. Diese Länder können einen großen Teil der Nominierungen auf sich vereinen können. Erwähnt werden muss auch noch Carlos Mortensen aus Spanien, der für zwei Awards nominiert war, leider aber ohne einen Preis nach Hause fahren musste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
