Ein Pokerskandal, in den angeblich Basketballspieler, Mafiafamilien und eine automatische Kartenmischmaschine<\/a> verwickelt sind, könnte die Schlagzeilen der Pokerwelt zum Jahresende dominieren.<\/p>

Das FBI hat Basketballstars wie Chauncey Billups, den Head Coach der Portland Trail Blazers und den ehemaligen US-Guard Damon Jones im Rahmen der „Operation Royal Flush“ angeklagt. Die Ermittlungen brachten ein komplexes Netzwerk ans Licht, das 31 Beschuldigte umfasst, die an illegalen privaten Pokerspielen in Städten wie Las Vegas, Miami und New York beteiligt gewesen sein sollen.<\/p>

Laut Joseph Nocella, dem US-Staatsanwalt für den Eastern District of New York, sollen die Spiele mit Unterstützung der Mafia organisiert worden sein. Es wird behauptet, dass die Partien durch Röntgen-Pokertische, versteckte Sensorsysteme und minimale Unterschiede in der Kartenstruktur manipuliert wurden, die es ermöglichten, Informationen über eine Fernverbindung an sogenannte „Quarterbacks“ am Tisch zu übermitteln.<\/p>

Berkey schlug 2023 Alarm<\/h2>

In einem wieder aufgetauchten Video aus dem Jahr 2023 sprach Solve for Why<\/em> -Gründer Matt Berkey über eine Runde, die in Los Angeles begann und schließlich nach Las Vegas verlegt wurde – angeblich „rund um“ Chauncey Billups aufgebaut. Berkey bleibt dabei, dass er den Betrug zwar vermutete, aber nicht mit Sicherheit wusste, dass das Spiel illegal war. Er habe „Glück gehabt“, nicht mitgespielt zu haben, wie er in einem Interview in der Pat McAfee Show<\/em> erklärte. Einige seiner Bekannten hätten dort hohe Summen verloren.<\/p>
