Kim wird damit von Beginn an nur der Push-or-Fold-Modus bleiben, und muss darauf hoffen, mit der besseren Hand all-in zu gehen, und das diese auch hält. Doch selbst wenn Kim früh verdoppelt, hätte er immer noch den kleinsten Stack am Tisch.<\/p>

\nDass es jedoch durchaus möglich ist, aus dem kleinsten Stack den Sieg zu formen, bewies im vergangenen Jahr Jerry Yang, der ebenfalls als Smallstack am Finaltisch startete und am Ende das Turnier gewann. Allerdings waren die Stacks vergangenes Jahr deutlich homogener verteilt und Yang war bei weitem nicht so short wie Kelly Kim.<\/p>

Dennoch sollte man Kim nicht von Beginn an völlig abschreiben. Zum einen ist im Poker immer alles möglich, und zum anderen weiß sich Kim als Shortstack zu behaupten. Bereits den gesamten Tag 7 des Mainevents spielte er mit dem kleinsten Stack und erwies sich dabei als echter Überlebenskünstler.<\/p>

Aus Konfrontationen mit den Bigstacks hielt er sich soweit wie möglich heraus, und spielte nur die absoluten Monster gegen sie. Dafür nahm er einige Blinds mit und rettete sich somit bis an den Final Table. Dort sind noch 21 Minuten und 50 Sekunden im 33. Level zu spielen, mit Blinds von 120k\/240k und 30.000 Ante.<\/p>

Mit seiner Erfahrung und seiner Reputation ist Kim jedoch immer ein gefährlicher Gegner. Bereits seit 1995 ist er dem Spiel verfallen. Damals ging er noch seinem Studium nach, das er erfolgreich beendete und anschließend als Analyst arbeitete, bevor er seiner Berufung folgte und professioneller Pokerspieler wurde. Seitdem cashte er acht Mal bei der WPT und landete bei der WSOP zwei Mal in den Geldrängen.<\/p>

Was ihm am Ende zugute kommen könnte, ist sein gutes Gespür für shorthanded Games. Die beherrscht er richtig gut und dürfte damit im weiteren Verlauf des Finales einen entscheidenden Vorteil bekommen. Allerdings muss er erst einmal so weit kommen und seinen Stack ausbauen, bevor er diesen ausspielen könnte.<\/p>

Ob er das schafft wird sich bereits heute entscheiden. In knapp fünf Stunden beginnt im Rio All-Suite Casino das Finale der 39. World Series of Poker mit einem Final Table-Preisgeld von unglaublichen $32.731.625. <\/p>

Heute wird bis auf die letzten zwei Spieler heruntergespielt, die dann Morgen im Heads-up antreten und um $9.152.416 für den Sieger spielen.<\/p>
