Kürzlich habe ich an einem Nebenprojekt im Bereich PLO-Turniere gearbeitet, in dessen Zuge einem bekannten PLO-Spieler die Frage gestellt wurde: Gibt es in diesen Bereich mehr Varianz?<\/p>

Die Ausgangsüberlegung war, dass die gängige Meinung möglicherweise falsch ist und PLO-Turniere tatsächlich eine deutlich geringere Varianz aufweisen als No Limit Holdem Turniere. Die bislang gespielten PLO-Turniere wirkten durchweg sehr tight, vergleichsweise soft und durch eher kleine Pötte geprägt. <\/p>

Auch der PLO-Coach bestätigte diese Einschätzung: Einige Aspekte des Spiels seien zwar varianzreicher, andere hingegen deutlich weniger. Insgesamt sei die Varianz in PLO einfach anders gelagert. <\/p>

Hoher ROI = geringere Downswings<\/h2>

Ein zentraler Grund für die Annahme geringerer Varianz liegt in den Winrates. Mithilfe von SharkScope habe ich einige aktuelle Leaderboard-Spieler mit Buy-ins bis $550 analysiert:<\/p>

Zwar handelt es sich hierbei um absolute Topspieler, dennoch stellt sich die Frage: Sieht man im No Limit Bereich vergleichbare Winrates über große Samples? Ein Spieler erzielte über mehr als 5.000 MTTs hinweg einen ROI von über 50%. <\/p>

Hier ist der Graph eines dieser Topspieler und die Schwankungen wirken vergleichsweise moderat:<\/p>

Bei einem derart hohen ROI sind Downswings<\/a> in PLO-Turnieren deutlich weniger dramatisch. <\/p>

Hier wird wesentlich tighter gespielt. Häufig gibt es keine Antes, wodurch der Stack nicht so schnell durch die Blinds aufgezehrt wird. Zudem erschwert die Pot-Limit-Setzstruktur Situationen, in denen man zu einer All-in-Entscheidung um das Turnierleben gezwungen wird. <\/p>

Ein Bereich mit erhöhter Varianz sind allerdings All-in-Situationen. Selbst starke Hände wie AAxx haben oft nur etwa 65% Equity gegen typische Ranges, sodass es kaum Situationen gibt, in denen man klarer Favorit ist.<\/p>

Gleichzeitig verlaufen viele PLO-Turniere in einem eher varianzarmen Stil, geprägt von Limping und kleineren Betsizes. In Kombination mit der Tatsache, dass viele Spieler strategisch noch unsicher agieren, ergibt sich ein interessantes Bild: Für MTT-Spezialisten kann PLO, entgegen der Intuition, eine deutlich ruhigere und konstantere Variante darstellen. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
